There are several sources that name Douglas Fowley’s character in “Opie and His
Merry Men” as “Weary Willie” or “Wary Willie.” The fact is that the character
is unnamed. I believe Barney does say something like “I wonder if Weary Willie
is back in town” but that name is not attributed to

I happened to see an Adam-12 episode that was written by Leo V. Gordon. That
name ran a bell since Luke Comstock (High Noon in Mayberry) was played by Leo
Gordon. Leo had a prodigious acting career and also wote almost 100
screenplays including 21 Adam-12s, a couple of which he also acted in.
On Make Room for Daddy this morning, Pat Buttram appeared as a character named
Harvey Bullock. The name should ring a bell as the real Harvey wrote 31
episodes of TAGS and another 21 episodes of Gomer Pyle. He also wrote 8
episodes for Danny Thomas in MRFD although not this particular show.
Saw Briscoe Darling go up against Paladin on Have Gun, Will Travel. Didn't
turn out well for Briscoe.

Just looking at Will Wright's (our Ben Weaver) biography. 1962's "The Merchant
of Mayberry" was one of Will's final roles in that he passed away that same
year. The startling fact was that Will was only 68. Will looked like he was

Try as I may, I always end up playing second fiddle to Ken. Anytime I think

just got to accept the fact that, given his advanced age, Ken is still pretty

bad guy. Reading Leo's bio, he had an interesting career not only on screen
but as a screenwriter and novelist. And, contrary to his size and countenance,

After some deep research, some of which involved law enforcement, I discovered
that Ken Anderson wasn't his birth name, he had it legally changed some years
ago. Seems he was born "Hoadie Snitch." I guess that explains a lot.
