The phrase isn’t “dog” but “I’ll be dogged” - as in doggoned, confounded,
confused. And, it was a more genteel way of saying “I’ll be darned” since you
couldn’t say what you really wanted to say: “I’ll be ...” (well, you know!).

Yes, I know how to spell “Bee” but, obviously, auto-correct thinks it’s spelled
“Bea.”

Thelma - I think the answer as to why there was only the one Christmas episode
... why mess with success?! The Christmas episode ranks as my favorite
(although all the others are close seconds!).

simply TAGS ... to which everyone asks why my tags say TAGS ... to which I get

Aunt Bea calling him Mr. Briscoe would be no different than someone calling her
Miss Bea. Using the title with the first name is commonplace in the south.
But, I prefer not to be called Mr. Ed - so as not to be confused with a famous
talking horse, of course!

Ken - I guess since you only found 26 fishing shows, we can't count the opening
scene of every episode? So, how about "Opie's Hobo Friend," David Browne
(Buddy Ebsen)? Tuscarora!

carrying a fishing pole, it would be every episode ... haven't you been
watching: every episode shows Andy Opie carrying their fishing poles!
