I'm happy to report that the current issue of Reminisce Extra has a two-page
tribute to Andy titled Welcome Back (photographs that celebrte the American
experience); it shows him portraying Lonesome Rhodes in the film A Face in
the Crowd, holding a guitar in front of an audience. The caption
I previously reported Mark Bishop's tribute to Andy in this month's issue of
Singing News but there was a mixup in the details of a couple of episodes he
cited. I knew Mark, in addition to being a fine Southern Gospel singer, is
also a big TAGS fan and for him to get episodes mixed up like

I spent some time this past weekend being interviewed by our local
newspaper and one of our TV stations. I was also on one of the morning
local talk radio shows. I submitted the following tribute to Andy which

Hi,
I cannot say that I grew up watching TAGS, because I graduated from High
School in 1964. However, I enjoyed watching reruns of it, while I attended
college, because one of my roommates had a TV. Some of us wish for the good ole
times to return. On a visit to my husband's brother and
looked so much like Ron does now.
I am in full agreement with the idea that we should create some sort of tribute
to Andy Griffith while he is still with us. Although I believe that he already
knows how much he is appreciated for his talent and hard work, it would be so
I agree that some sort of a tribute to Andy would be great -- and (unlike the
ones for Don Knotts) before it's too late for him to know about it.
Let's by all means develop this idea, 'cause it's a good one.
