Children's manners

2007-06-25 Thread Ruth Stanley
The use of yes sir, yes mam seems most prevelant in the south. It was one of
the things I noticed back in the 50s when I attended a Christian College in
Dayton Tenn. I think it is time for a revival of good manners being taught in
the home. I just received a Thankyou e-mail from my turning 8, granddaughter
for a birthday gift. I'm pleased that the girls are being taught good manners
by my daughter.
Children learn by example, in turn will teach their children. One of the
things I have always enjoyed about TAGS was that Opie wasn't a smart mouthed
kid like some the characters on later shows, a type of so called humor I never
found funny.

Mr Schwump or Schwamp? Sightings

2007-06-25 Thread Danny Taylor
I think we should start sightings of Mr Schwump like they have had of Elvis.

I heard someone tell a friend of my cousin's wife's nephew that they saw Mr
Schwump in Vegas, Now they didn't say he was gambling but he was standing
beside a roulette wheel, smiling and nodding.

Some one else I know said they thought they heard he had crossed Old Man
Kelseys Ocean and was hanging out with those Englishters.

That's the word on the street anyway.

On my word as a gentleman

jaywalking ticket

2007-06-25 Thread Silvia Boosten
Remember when Barney gave Emma a jaywalking ticket.

A customer at the library just told me she got one. I didn't think they
enforced
  jaywalking.

Barney's right

2007-06-25 Thread Janet Anderson
Oh, I just thought of another time that Barney was right. When Charlene did
the ritual and incantation to divorce Dud Wash and the family was trying to
force Andy to marry her, Barney came up with the idea of using mountain
folklore to get Andy out of it. Andy didn't want to have anything to do with
it, but Barney insisted, and his black rider on a white horse saved Andy from
marrying Charlene. Barney was right!

Mr. Shwump's Anwering Machine

2007-06-25 Thread Dan Goodwin
I was trying to call Mr. Schwump with a question concerning enrolling in the
fall semester at his School of Smiling and Nodding. He wasn't in and I got
his answering machine. His message goes something like this:

Ring..ringring..click...beep.

Twilight Zone

2007-06-25 Thread Stephen Shamblin
Bein retarded (retired), I bought the definitive collection of the twilight
zone, and, course, watched it all. Floyd has bit parts in two episodes, Gomer
costars in one, but the best is Ernest T. Bass! He envisions himself as
president. Who knows, we may need an Ernest in there?

Giraffes

2007-06-25 Thread Dan Goodwin
Our local zoo just finished the new giraffe enclosure and we're expecting a
couple of Masai giraffes next month. Boy, I sure hope they're not selfish.
