root beer
Hey Aunt Bee from Orlando-- I do the same thing. I also had everyone at the Mayberry Trivia Night do it too. So un-ladylike but oh well-sure did taste great. I also voted to keep the jail. We recently bought some land with a house on it. Trying to make our decision whether to move or not. My only concern is where the put my Mayberry Room out there. What a Dilema!!! Natural Mayberrians
Sylvia asked about Goober and Howard growing up in Mayberry. I believe they did, or at least got there as youngsters. Andy mentioned Howard being shy in High School. Also Goober age 5 was present at the first Punch in the Nose Case, reading a comic book waiting for a haircut. Re: Aunt Bee's car
***I'm not sure of the manufacturer and model but I posted some screen captures on Mayberry Historical Society for the all the official car identification notifiers out there. *** That appears to me to be a 1955 Ford Fairlane Sunliner convertible. I think I once called it a '56 here on the forum and several people piped right up and corrected me, surprised I haven't heard from them yet. But they were right, it was indeed a '55. Mayberrians were apparently Ford people mostly; although Ford supplied new cars for the show, even many of the featured older ones turn out to be Fords, like this one or Barney's deal he got from Hubcaps Lesch, or Emmett's '59 Ford pickup. I'm guessing the same dealer who provided the squad cars provided a few extras from its used car division. Obviously there was the occasional exception like Howard Sprague's '64 Chevy. Andy and Brad Paisley
If you want a good look at Andy Griffith today, catch the 30-minute show on the making of Brad Paisley's video Waiting on a Woman, which features Andy. He's the star of the show, which is on some country music channel. Sorry, I can't recall which one.The show depicts the making of the video and shows Paisley, the director and others talking about how much it means to them to meet and work with a true legend. Andy emphasizes how much he wants to keep working. Walker Drug Store Hawthorne Piece
No Hank, I am sorry to report there was no key above the door to Walker's Drugstore Hawthorne building. But there is a dandy hole in the bottom of it where a person could crawl through in case of emergency. Hope Barney doesn't find out about that or he will do another Glen Ford routine. RE: WBMUTBB Digest, Vol 9, Issue 319
Goober may have lived in Mayberry at the age of 5, but he must have moved away shortly thereafter because in the episode Fun Girls, Gomer introduces Goober to Andy like Andy had never met him before. But on a different subject, I always wondered why the show did not make a bigger deal of the passenger train that ran through Mayberry. A few people came in on the train, and Howard and Millie went to West Virginia on it, but the train was almost never spoken of. We have a passenger train station in our small community, and a lot of the conversation is about the train. Just wondering. Lucy
Hey to everyone - It's been a while since I've made any written contribution here but there's something layn' on my mind. I was watching a segment of Pioneers of T.V. last night and there was a segment on 'I Love Lucy' and in it Andy was talking about how he had worked with her on the show. I was wondering if anybody knows which episode Andy appeared in on 'I Love Lucy'. I'd love to see it. Thanks for any information. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.
