Mayberry reality show
If someone in Mayberry were to make a Reality show who would it be and what kind of show would they do? Vic, that is a thought-provoking question. I think the obvious answer is a Cops-style show featuring Andy and Barney and their day-to-day work upholding law and order in Mayberry, facing and overcoming various life-threatening situations. The title could be Mayberry--Gateway to Danger! There would be lots of excitement and tension as the cameras follow Barney bringing in Mrs. Kelsey's laundry from the clothesline and swearing Leon to secrecy as he borrows one of her dresses. They could record Andy and Barney, along with Aunt Bee, as they attempt to collect all the offending newspapers that Opie and Howie passed out before townsfolk have a chance to read them. The cameras could show both men as they frantically search the dump for Barney's chain letter, and then follow them as they deliver soup to Emma Brand's house (poor old soul!). Oh, and they could devote a whole episode to Barney's supernatural dealings with the Count. And there would certainly be lots of excitement as Barney tries to finally close the case of the punch in the nose. Of course, there are many other possibilities. What about a show called Grease Monkey--The Life and Times of a Garage Mechanic? We could see Goober repairing a tire (there's quite a lot of suspense when he plunges the inner tube in water and searches for the tell-tale air bubbles) and watch as he talks to Lydia Crosswaithe about her bad tires and oil problem. We could also see him fix the carburetor in the squad car--putting it in, taking it out, etc. But the highlight would be an episode devoted to Goober taking apart Gilly Walker's car and putting it together again (It was a beautiful thing!). Yes, I think there is definite potential there. As far as I'm concerned, Mayberry's reality is sure preferable to what passes for entertainment these days. Where the living is easy and slow. Silent Auction
While strollin' thru the woods a day or 3 ago I decided I needed to go into town fer a change, so come back to the cabin and cranked up the ol' puddle jumper and away I went. Stopped in one a'them stores what sells stuff don't nobody want but somebody else might and I found a VHS tape of the Bio-graphy of Andy G. I don't need it but thunk someone might oughta have it so paid a whoppingHmmmph!! Ain't a'gonna tell ya what I paid fer it!! Then a few days later I come across a DVD of Song For The Season with Andy, Gerald McRaney and Naomi Judd. Whut I was sayin' is, I don't need 'em but will donate 'em to the silent auction come Mayberry Days. Hopefully someone will pay a little sumpin' fer 'em and help along the Surry Arts Council. Oh...almost fergot to tell ya...the VHS Biography is still sealed in its original plastic wropper. I tell ya whatone day not long ago when I got up I peeked out the winder and the woods had a slight haze of ice coatin' them. The sun was up enough to make 'em glisten like diamonds and what a great reminder of how little I can control this old world!! Almighty God put on a display I was mighty proud to take a look at! I'll check in a'fore long and letcha all know how my woods is farin' during these bleak cold days. Old Man Kelsey ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
alumni sighting
Caught a few minutes of Music Man this evening and I think I spotted Arnold Winkler at a fairly young age. Perhaps this is the first time he and Opie met, which might've led to his appearances in Mayberry! Squad Car License Plate Number
Last year I ordered a license plate for my car that I thought contained the three numbers from Andy and Barney's squad car. The numbers I used were 283. I am certain that I saw those numbers from the squad car license plate on an episode. However, while I was watching the TAGS episode The English Valet recently, I discovered very clearly that the squad car license plate contained the number 327. Were there a variety of license plate numbers used on the squad car license plate throughout the seasons of TAGS? I imagine Ken would be able to provide details regarding my question. Janet...I really enjoyed reading your post about a TAGS reality show. That was very enjoyable to read. Thank you.
