TAGS at a Funeral I Attended
My wife LInda and I are part of our church's Home Visitation Ministry where we visit shut ins each month and distribute communion. Five of our six friends have passed away during the past twelve months. This morning we attended the funeral for one of the ladies we visit. Our pastor began his homily with a very wonderful tribute to Mayberry and the values and qualities of the Andy Griffith Show. He used it to demonstrate how important things from our past are, especially the important values that were such a part of TAGS. He even whistled the TAGS Theme Song as an introduction. He has brought his young son over to our house numerous times to see the squad car and they come to many of the car shows I am at. Like many others, I too have given up on watching the Oscars. Too many downright filthy films are honored and it breaks my heart. As for our beloved sheriff not getting a memoriam mention, it does not surprise me, judging by who is in charge these days. I cancelled my subscription to People magazine for the same reason; they deemed the greatest loss to be Whitney Houston, a known drug addict. I was appalled as well as heartbroken. Maybe I'm getting to be an old fuddy-duddy at the age of 63 but I feel I have to stick to my principles. Chuck I agree with you about Andy Griffith being omitted from the In Memoriam list. The next morning I was watching The View and Whoopie Goldberg brought up the fact that A G was omitted from the list and how wrong that was and what a distinguished actor he was. She mentioned his movies and how good he was I'm them. Yay Whoopie.
