Mayberry Days Updates

2016-09-21 Thread Jeff Koontz
Things are shaping up for another great festival in Mount Airy this year and I
look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones. If you've never been to
Mayberry Days take advantage of excellent weather (according to Calvin
Coolidge) and come to Mount Airy this weekend.

Legitimate concern about the availability of gas, but my observation is
companies that own their tanker trucks do have gas so truck stops like
Pilot/Flying J and the like are good. Smaller convenient stores that rely on
contract trucks to deliver their gas run out until the next delivery. Don't
panic, but don't let the gauge go to E before filling up (insert Gomer's quote
here). Most of all, travel safely and be an example to your friends and family
and don't use your phone while driving.

One change to the line up with Rodney and Beverly Dillard leading the Sunday
Chapel with their Mayberry Values service at the Blackmon Amphitheatre. Tickets
to all shows are still available by calling SAC at 336.786.7998 but many are
nearly sold out. Tickets to MD17 are also available if you want to get good
seats next year.

Don't forget about the WBMUTBB Silent Auction on Saturday. Thank you to those
who have reached out to me about your donations. We've got some great items
again this year. Please stop by on Saturday after the parade in front of the
Playhouse and say hey.

It's BIG!

James Gregory The Funniest Man in America
Friday, September 26th at 7pm, Andy Griffith Playhouse

the past few years. He does a family friendly show and will certainly have some
good Mayberry humor. Check out is website at http://funniestman.com/

-
Doug Dillard Tribute Concert featuring
Rodney Dillard and the Dillard Band
Friday, September 26th at 2pm,  Andy Griffith Playhouse
Tickets $25

The youngest Darling boy returns with his band for a matinee only show. He has
a special A/V tribute to his brother Doug, plus Maggie will be there to sing
her songs from the TAGS episodes. http://rodneydillard.tv/site/ (Fortunately,
this show should end in time for trivia at 4:30)

-
The Tams
Friday, September 26th at 7:30pm,  Blackmon Amphitheatre
Tickets $15

Not as Mayberry as the other shows, but this is a great Carolina Beach Music
band and provides great alternative entertainment for those who like to dance
(including people who stand out with a gold tooth)

Mayberry Days Updates

2013-06-27 Thread Jeff Koontz
The Surry Arts Council is pleased to announce that Peggy McKay will be
returning to Mayberry Days again this year. The new addition to the festival
line up is BIG! Roland White and his band will be featured in Friday night's
Doug Dillard Memorial Concert. Roland, along with LeRoy McNees, were part of
The Country Boys who performed in the episodes Mayberry on Record and Quiet
Sam. Roland has been a part of bluegrass music ever since and will be a great
addition to Mayberry Days this year. Only one evening show is scheduled, so get
your tickets now before it sells out.

Tickets can be purchased online with all the latest can be found at
http://www.mayberrydays.com or http://www.surryarts.org

Mayberry Days Updates

2012-09-04 Thread Jeff Koontz
Ronnie Schell is schedule to return to Mayberry Days this year adding to the
list of Special Guests. He was Bernie the Furrier and Jim Martin the Director
in two episodes of TAGS and then Duke Slater in Gomer Pyle, USMC. He is not
headlining a show this time, but will certainly bring the laughs to numerous
events and be available for autographs and photographs.

Tickets are selling well again this year, so I'll encourage you to purchase
yours sooner than later so you don't miss out on shows that usually sell out.
Also, tickets for select shows of the 2013 festival will be available online
starting Sept 21st and at the Andy Griffith Playhouse/Information Tent during
the festival.

It's BIG!
