Yes, I saw where the newsstand is about 4:59 in "The Arrest of the Fun Girls" episode. I was looking for the actual scene where Andy and Barney were standing in front of it. That's why I missed it earlier. Like Margaret said, it must have been a publicity shot or perhaps the script changed to where Andy talks to Barney in the street instead of in front of the newsstand after they initially filmed it in front of the newsstand. Perhaps Andy saw how noticeable the "Racing Forms" was if they talked in front of the newsstand, so he moved the scene out into the street. Mystery solved! You can see the newsstand and the man with the hat, but it is not at the angle from the original photo. So I'm guessing it was a publicity photo. Have a Mayberry kind of day. WBMUTBB Chapter Photo at Mayberry Days
Hey Folks Mayberry Days is FAST approaching and hopefully at least some of you will be attending. It has been a custom for about 25 years that all the members of WBMUTBB Chapter, The Taylors Front Porch, and other portions of the TAGSRWC online communities gather for a few minutes to meet one another in person and to have a group photo. When: ~5:15 Friday September 27, 2019 Where: Blackmon Amphitheatre (Just after the World Championship of TAGS Trivia) We'll gather to the right of the stage on the hill for 5 to 10 minutes to go around and introduce ourselves so we'll be able to put a face with the e-mail address/nickname that folks use here online. Back in the beginning, this was the only way we could "see" one another because the internet was so young. There was no Facebook, Instagram, or any other way to share photos and put faces to names. Once, we even all sent photos of ourselves by MAIL to a single person who compiled the photos, made color copies, and then mailed (using the post office) the photo copies to all who had mailed in photo. Whewtimes have changed. I look forward to seeing all of you who are able to be there and getting to put faces to names. Harriet, I have read somewhere, or heard somewhere, that the photo or picture on the wall of the Taylor home is a photo of Frances Bavier (Aunt Bee) taken many years before the show, probably in the 1920's.That is how I remember it, anyone can correct me if I am wrong.Orville Hendricks - The Butter and Egg Man From Mt. Another Photo Request
I tell you the truth, this will be my final request for a picture - I think. I am doing the final touches on my PowerPoint Presentation and I would love to have a nice photo shot of Mayberry's Main Street. I can only find photo's showing one or two buildings. I could live with these but sure would like something that might show more buildings. If anyone has a photo like this and would be willing to share it with me, I would certainly be grateful. In my bio for an upcoming presentation at a State Teacher's Convention they used the line, Come and find out how a retired teacher of 36 years uses the Andy Griffith Show as a therapeutic way to get rid of stress. I laughed so loud when I read that line. Too bad they didn't spell it therapetic. Thanks Bob But The Photo Of Schwamps Brother Reveals More Than You Think
A great new photo to add to the TAGS archives for all fans to enjoy. look at the ensemble of actors in the Courthouse from 1965. but my eye shows me more than the fact Schwamp and older brother are pictured at opposite ends. Goober towers over everyone. look at the look on Schwamp's face one of bewilderment as are most but for Mr. Schwamp its more revealing. Even his older brother has that concerned look. George Cisar has his back to us. But most of all, LOOK at Howard McNear aka Floyd. Look at the effects of the stroke. Look at his expression. Look at his left leg bended to such a degree to indicate the effort of standing and look at his arm , his bad arm resting calmly on his person over that leg. Only we Mayberry fans could have detected such a thing.This is a historical photo in more ways than one. What a fine ensemble of actors we see in this photo. Would any of you kind folks out there have a nice photo of Mr. Schwump that you could share with me? I am updating my Power Point presentation and I have a nice section of pictures of Mayberry Folks that goes across the screen while Andy is singing the Fishing Hole song. That section of my Power Point is called People You Will Meet in Mayberry. I have about twenty photos in that section thus far, including Jimmy the Goat, but can't find anything good of Mr. Schwump and I sure hate to leave him out. I even have two blank ones for Sarah and Juanita. I thought that was darn cute of me. I usually ask why there weren't any photos for those two and most of the time no one knows so they get a kick out of it when I tell them they had never been seen in any of the episodes. In reguards to the picture on the piano in front of Aunt Bee. I believe this is simply some sheet music and nothing to do with the Taylor family. Lots of sheet mucsic from the 30's thru the 60's of Popular music would have photos or artwork on the front. I'm not sure Ray about it being scissors in his pocket, it looks like a pair of reading glasses to me because they seem like small lenses and one ear piece is sticking out at a curved angle unlike a pair of scissors would be. the lense portion is right beside his button for his pocket so it blurs things some, i'm not sure what that is next to the glasses though on the right in the picture ,kinda looks like a spoon?
