Just what I'm after, found the

I think if you look at the Nominet Site, buried in there is a
note that you can record an interest in a name that lapses
with a view to doing what you want.
Couldn't find it with a cursory hunt, but I've emailed Nominet anyway to ask
them what the best approach is.
