Ah, I forget that there was a version before the SE version.

In that case install WeeWX and select station_type = FineOffsetUSB

Perhaps from Froggit. Download the latest software and then see if it will
update firmware. There may not be one available. I'm just saying that it is a
good thing to check.

[weewx-user] Re: Sunrise/Sunset times off on Vantage Pro 2

2020-06-29 Thread gjr80
Hi,

I think we need to sort the apples from the oranges and bananas. Exactly
what are you showing us? Is that the sunrise/sunset times as displayed on
the console or as displayed in loop packet/archive record or as returned by
a tag in a report? What latitude/longitude do you have set in your console
and in weewx.conf? Do you have pyephem installed for the version of python
that WeeWX is being run under?

Sorry for the questions, but it's a bit like the 'pressures'; there are a
number of moving parts to this and unless you know exactly what is being
looked at it is hard to give a meaningful answer.

[weewx-user] Sunrise/Sunset times off on Vantage Pro 2

2020-06-29 Thread Constantine Samaklis
Wondering if anyone is having the same issue. In the last 3-4 days my
Vantage pro is showing the wrong sunrise and sunset times. I am in NY and
the console is set to EST daylight savings and the current time value is
displayed correctly.

For sunset I get: 1593478080, which is 8:48PM EST and for sunrise I get:
1593424080 which is 5:48am EST.

These timings are off by 20+ minutes. Not sure if this is something that
anyone else is experiencing.

- update the firmware on the WH4000 (just a good practice, ensures you have
latest features and no known bugs)
- configure "Customized" server upload with WS View app, and point Ecowitt
protocol upload to your WeeWX server IP address.
- install WeeWX and select Simulator
- install Interceptor driver and configure for ecowit-client following
Interceptor directions.

2020-06-29 Thread gjr80
Hmm, can’t explain why it worked before. cloudbase was added to
[[Calculations]] later than the other obs, so that suggests upgrading of an
earlier version could be the cause. But that does not explain it working
previously.

Second seemingly unexplained config change to come up today.

2020-06-29 Thread gjr80
Ok, here is the clue:

Jun 29 17:53:49 raspberrypi weewx[25051] INFO weewx.wxservices: The following
values will be calculated: pressure=prefer_hardware, barometer=prefer_hardware,
altimeter=prefer_hardware, windchill=prefer_hardware,
heatindex=prefer_hardware, dewpoint=prefer_hardware,
inDewpoint=prefer_hardware, rainRate=prefer_hardware

StdWXCalculate is not set to calculate cloudbase for some reason (cloudbase is
usually calculated by WeeWX not the station/driver). Have a look at
[StdWXCalculate] [[Calculations]] in weewx.conf, is there any entry for
cloudbase? If not add one, something like:

cloudbase = prefer_hardware

Save weewx.conf and restart WeeWX (probably easiest to check at first by
running WeeWX directly). If a cloudbase entry does exist please post a copy of
your [Calculations] stanza.

Anthony,

I am using an AcuRite 1035 5 in 1 sensor system here and weewx linux
software. The system has been fairly reliable for the price (about $135
- $155 for display/usb comm unit and outdoor mast sensor unit freight
included) The only problem I have with it is the wind speed anemometer
cups got broken on a battery change session and I ordered a whole
replacement 5 in 1 sensor unit to replace it through amazon and they
sent two units, supposedly new , that were both U/S. One had no 433 MHz
RF output to talk to display unit and 2nd one had RF but no data stream.
So sent both back. While waiting to sort it out I came across
replacement cups that were inexpensive (less than $15 Cdn) free shipping
if combined with something else so I ordered a set and repaired my
current 5 in 1 sensor and it is back online now. It feeds CWOP, AWEKAS,
WeatherUnderground as well as my own web site in addition to WEEWX
site/maps.

I am a radio amateur and only interested in it from CANWARN/SKYWARN
perspective so am not into as much data manipulation or coding of
presentations. I have it running and feeding a MySQL/MariadB  on the
same UbuntuStudio 20.04LTS machine. I like that optionas I can access
the data with LibreOffice Base report generators and/or MS Access odbc
connections and use it as interface to generate reports from there as
well. I have been planning to have the SQL dB run on a separate
dedicated server box, fortunately I have been a little slow in
implementing that as vers 20.04LTS recent updates have made some changes
that would affect the operation of the nfs-kernel-server such that it
does not start without errors now and thus not a reliable connection
resource for weewx.  dB resident on same machine as weewx avoids that so
something to keep in mind.

Libre Office base is not yet as mature and super user intuitive and
friendly as Access esp when using visual design views to run different
types of queries easily. SELECT ones are OK but if you want to do UPDATE
or other types the visual tools aren't there yet and one has to fall
back on pure SQL text strings to do the job which isn't super convenient.

I don't have lightning sensors either but would definitely be of use to me.

When AWEKAS emails failure reports to me troubleshooting the comm link
between the sensor and display unit is great help; I am using an RSP1A
SDR receiver that can tune up into the 433 MHz freq band and sees the RF
signals and rich T in a couple of previous posts here in the last couple
of days has a way to decode those signals so you can see the actual real
data sent from the sensor to the display to confirm it is serviceable.

If your interest lies in coding a bit with different skins etc to
manipulate the interpretations of a lot of the data them probably await
comments from a few others in the group here.

Cheers and good luck deciding  ---> choices are as wide and they are
long LOL

I'm looking for a setup that meets the following requirements:

    - A "dummy resistant" local display for the family.
    - Multiple datapoints...Temp, wind speed, wind direction, rain

want to be dependent on any sort of "cloud" service.

Some things that would be nice, but are definitely not required:

ability to *add* a lightning detection sensor.
    - Hard-wired sensor array (I am no stranger to pulling cable).  My
philosophy is that if it's a fixed device, it is cabled. :-D

I don't have a particular budget in mind.  My initial gut is to try to
spend no more than ~$200 or so (excluding installation stuffs), but
this is flexible if there is compelling reasons to expand the budget.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

[weewx-user] OpenWeatherMap 0.9 extension on weewx 4.1.1 not working

2020-06-29 Thread gjr80
Hi,

The OWM uploader is not loading and no error is thrown which points towards a
fundamental config error. Could please run wee_debug
(http://weewx.com/docs/utilities.htm#wee_debug_utility) and post a copy of the
output. Before posting the wee_debug output check it for any sensitive info
such as passwords, user names, api keys etc. wee_debug is good at obfuscating
such info but it’s not perfect.

[weewx-user] OpenWeatherMap 0.9 extension on weewx 4.1.1 not working

2020-06-29 Thread Steve Magnuson
I can't seem to get the OpenWeatherMap extension to work. I'm probably
missing something obvious and just need another set of eyes to point it out
to me.

I've installed the OWM extension 0.9 on my weewx 4.1.1 running on RPi 4B
(latest Buster image):

$ wee_extension --list
Extension NameVersion Description
owm 0.9 Upload weather data to OpenWeatherMap.

After registering my station at OWM per the instructions
, I've added the
relevant configuration in the [StdRESTful] section in /etc/weewx/weewx.conf:

[[OpenWeatherMap]]
appid = xxxa8
station_id = d0

...and restarted weewx:

$ sudo systemctl restart weewx

My updates to Wunderground and CWOP work fine, but I see no activity to OWM
and nothing in the log file at all about OWM even with debug enabled.

The problem was that the user did not have enough rights. Furthermore, the
import of the database did not work with phpmyAdmin because the database
was too large, it worked with putty directly on the Synology with mysql.
Now this is as requested, thanks for the help.

Hi,

Would help to see a startup log extract. Could you restart WeeWX and once WeeWX
is running take a log extract showing the entire startup through until the
first archive record is save to database. Post the log extract here.

2020-06-29 Thread gjr80
I would not worry about raising anything Christian, the code I am working on
would allow something like a rate based field to be calculated from some other
(user specified) field. You still have to add any necessary extra fields to
your database yourself, but StdWXCalculate could be configured to create the
rate based field. No guarantees as it needs the Tom-tick but it looks good so
far.

Re: [weewx-user] Generating graph with multi colored background bands or multiple colors in the graph line

2020-06-29 Thread gjr80
I presume you mean incorporating 3rd party charts such as Highcharts. Simple
answer is yes, basically if you can put it in a HTML page you can put it in a
Seasons page.

In general you need to have WeeWX produce whatever data the charting package
requires, that could be as simple as a JSON format data file produced via a
WeeWX report or it could be something more complex. You would need to put the
necessary HTML/JavaScript/PHP code required by the charting package to render
the chart in the correct Seasons template file. All fairly straightforward but
can be quite involved depending on your skills. Certainly much more involved
than adding an additional WeeWX image generator generated plot.

Thanks.

Is there a way to incorporate the generated graph into a Seasons template ?

[weewx-user] Generating graph with multi colored background bands or multiple colors in the graph line

2020-06-29 Thread gjr80
Hi,

No, unfortunately the WeeWX image generator cannot do that. You might be able
to achieve such an effect using a 3rd party charting package such as
Highcharts.

[weewx-user] Generating graph with multi colored background bands or multiple colors in the graph line

2020-06-29 Thread Rahul Bedi
Hi,

I am have integrated the AQI and PurpleAir extensions on my weather station
and am now trying tweak the graphs generated.

Is there a way to have the Weewx imagegenerator to do one of the following:

1. Generate a graph with the background with horizontal bands of different
color based on the value of the y-axis labels ? Eg. 0-50 Green; 51-100:
Light green; 101-150: pink etc.

or

2. Generate a graph where the line segments change color depending on the
y-axis value. So basically one line but having different colored segments
depending on the rang of Y-axis values.

Thanks.

[weewx-user] Re: calculate rainRate for second rain gauge...?

2020-06-29 Thread 'Christian Peters' via weewx-user
Gary,

thanks for the link and the explanation. I fear there is some code to
understand and to change that to hailRate, will be be out of my skills I
fear.
Should I raise a feature request in weewx git to add a second or third rain
value in the databse with included rainRate computation?

Adding a additional
rain1
field to the database and assign it to the rain group would not enable
rainRate computation for that added new value I think?

Thanks for your help.

Regards,

Christian
