[Bug 23126] Locked and hidden accounts can unify new local accounts
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23126 --- Comment #11 from DF 2010-10-24 09:26:36 UTC --- Locked accounts are locked for a very valid reason and it is only used for engregious vandals, spammers, abusive usernames, etc. That locked and lock-hidden accounts are now permitted to log-in, continue SULing and when logged-in, use some features like Special:EmailUser has brought us lots of headaches. Now locked-hidden accounts previously suppressed manually elsewhere can log-in an start spamming the user creation logs with auto account creations that may contain abusive usernames, private information, libellous/slanderous data, etc; which may carry legal consecuences. This causes us doublework because we have to reblock again and go wiki by wiki suppressing the username again = waste of time and resources. Security issue. That locked and lock-hidden accounts are now able to log-in and use features like Special:EmailUser is harmful. Months ago we had a strong case of spam on the Ukranian Wikipedia were a spambot exploited the system to send spam to users all over WMF projects. It resulted that the bot was also using locked sockpuppet accounts to exploit this feature globally; so the lock was absolutelly useless for stopping this abusem we had nothing to do but go wiki by wiki and start manually blocking the accounts = waste of time and resources. All this was verified by CheckUser. Another serious issue is bug 23310. We should not worry about the appeals or if the user locked is gonna cry and nobody will hear him because our priority is to stop the user. So for now I think it is safer to go back and make locked and lock-hidden accounts not able to log-in (thus, not able to unify, use email, etc) as was done previously. The globalsuppression option via JobQueue is, on the other hand, a very handy tool and should be kept and updated (bug 23310). With a query that drops/renames the main column:

}}
When I go to the Semantic Search to see 'more', then the "main column" is shown
though it was dropped in the #ask above. Additionally, the 'title' column
sometimes shows and sometimes does not in the table created by Special:Semantic
Search. That is, Special:Semantic Search shows both columns (the mainlabel
column AND the title column) on my wiki, but it does not show the 'title'
column in the SMW sandbox at all - it only shows the 'main column'.

Roan, after a brief observation, the first bug seems to be very simple:

There is a call_user_func_array with $args, where $args is a four reportPage
arguments, while the callback has been modified to include 5th parameter:

Roan, it seems that ResourceLoader bug is quite simple, too. My 1.17 testing
site uses Monobook skin, not Vector. and in
ResourceLoaderFileModule::getModifiedTime() there is a following line:
$filesMtime = max( array_map( 'filemtime', array_map( array( __CLASS__,
'remapFilename' ), $files ) ) );
which produced a warning with bad consequences, because $files[] elements might
be Array, not just strings:
$files=array(1) {
[0]=>
string(23) "skins/vector/screen.css"
}
$files=array(1) {
[0]=>
string(28) "skins/common/commonPrint.css"
}
$files=array(1) {
[0]=>
string(23) "skins/common/shared.css"
}

}
note that in last case resourceloadermodule $files[1] is array which indicates
media type of stylesheet. One should not do direct array_map() on such arrays
to expect valid string result. "Array" string is produced and of course it is
not a valid file name so one could not filemtime() it.

I have a wiki with $wgSMTP optionally enabled, transferred to another host. It
has no PEAR's mail package installed, thus, produces the following error:

This is 1.15.4 the customer uses, but in 1.17 trunk the code is basically the
same.
One probably should also check, whether that Mail.php is actually comes from
PEAR.

Hmm, I don't remember why I didn't comment here, but for that purpose, it would
be enough to just implement a wrapper for the same variable that is returned in
$wgArticleId (check any mw page source). I think I talked to someone in
#mediawiki about this, and I don't recall having been told that'd be hard to
do.
