That's now in bug 62819, which we believe we have just fixed this week (to go
out on Thursday). Closing this. The suggestion that there be two edit fields in
the link inspector (one for anchor, the other for target) is tracked in bug
53973.

Looking at , it
seems this is implemented via meta tags. This bug report is probably fairly
similar to bug 30113, which Jared just linked as a see also.

In my opinion, it feels a bit icky to litter the head of the HTML output of
every page with proprietary (and arguably faddish) meta tags. Setting up
generic meta tags or some other means of programmatically transferring this
data might be a worthwhile goal.

It isn't unprecedented for MediaWiki to include features similar to this as
configuration options (the Apple Icon config variable comes to mind off-hand).

Indeed, Function.prototype.bind is new in ECMAScript 5, which VisualEditor
requires. Or rather, VE requires ECMAScript 3 syntax engine and an environment
that somehow provides certain ES5 features, which can potentially be
polyfilled. We don't yet (and that is by design), adopt any ES5 syntax or ES5
features that can't be polyfilled.

This is already guarded against using the feature test in our mw integration
init[1], so you can rely on this without having to worry about old browsers.

I'd recommend #2 for consistency (we do the same with other ES5 features we've
adopted) and minor performance micro optimisation (extra global and property,
extra callstack because it has to be a proxy calling bind, unlike Array.isArray
is can't be assigned to ve.bind by reference because bind needs to be bound
itself) and because we're already using '.bind' in a few places.

But keeping ve.bind with a small wrapper to bind using bind seems fine for
backwards compatibility with ve plugins in the wild. But I'd recommend we don't
use this in core.

Yeh, the proprietary meta tags are nasty on closer inspection. I'm surprised no
standardisation here has happened yet :(

I'm torn -bringing in new readers by drawing them in with pretty images and
interesting descriptions is a good thing. I wonder if there is some way to
achieve the same goal without the og: metatags.

There is some additional problem with the current gdash configuration.

When the "Show Code Deploys" checkbox is active, something is causing the
generated graphite URLs to contain an extraordinary number of superfluous
ampersands. In one URL I just examined there are 4188 extra ampersands inserted
between the deployment metric stanzas and the remainder of the graph
description.

When these ampersands are removed from the graphite URL the graph renders
(albeit with no deploy markers).

The pmtpa issue is an unrelated and soon-to-be-moot gluster failure.

The eqiad issue I've seen before, but don't know how to fix (other than by
waiting and rebooting.)  Perhaps Coren will have time to debug this sometime

confirmed, had exact same issue today, with 2 newly created eqiad instances.

mediawiki-core@1.22.4 shows no mention of a 'jquery.collapsibleTabs' dependency
in Resources.php

mediawiki-extensions-Vector@REL1_22 is empty entirely.

So if packaged correctly, and assuming the error you mention in comment 23 is
indeed originating from a Vector module (and not some other gadget or
extension), this looks like it is caused by packaging the wrong old version,
because core 1.22.4 with Vector#REL1_22 is incapable of producing such an
error.

Just to eliminate the possibility, when you say un-tarring you don't mean you
have an existing installation of some arbitrary MediaWiki version and Vector
extension version and unpacked it on top in such a way that any files in common
directories that should not be there, were kept around? Replacing an extension
should replace the entire directory, not just overwrite conflicting files.
There is no telling what could happen when unzipped and merged (the only
directory of which its direct file contents are safely mergeable with older
versions is mediawiki-core root,  any subdirectory should just be replaced,
except maybe 'extensions' or 'uploads').

Though even then, the module registry isn't composed of globbing directories.
overwriting extensions/Vector/Vector.php with the extension REL1_22 version and
resources/Resources.php with the core REL1_22 version doesn't reproduce this
problem either.

What browser are you using? The byteLimit plugin is listening for cut/paste
events which modern browsers should (do?) fire when pasting content in the
manner described.

In addition to keyboard events (of course), it also listens to click events,
focus/blur events and the generic change event.

Yes. It is understood that Sanskrit Language could be selected from the
selector panel.  Our view is that, once an user enters Sa. Wikipedia, Sanskrit 
should be available as a default language instead of the longer route of
language selection. 
At present, after entering Sanskrit Wikipedia, one has to select Sanskrit
Language (through Ctrl M) for getting Sanskrit Lipi. It would be in the best
interest of all users if they (any user new or experienced) could access
Sanskrit Lipi as a default language and not vice versa.
Therefore we appeal to the Technical team to make this change which could
benefit the new users and users who are not very familiar with the language
selection processes.

In order to provide better feedback to users while entering values, errors
reported by value parsers should be localizable (and support message
parameters). 

In particular, ParseException should take an error code string and an optional
list of parameters in the constructor. 

We can then create a ParseErrorLocalizer class and use it in a way simmilar to
ValidatorErrorLocalizer.

For some reason I managed to get the pmtpa slave nodes back to nodejs 0.8.x
which break the VisualEditor npm jobs.

I also created two new slaves in eqiad (integration-slave1001 and
integration-slave1002) and they come up with nodejs 0.8.x as well.

Will mail ops list to figure out how to get nodejs 0.10.x marked for install on
those hosts.
