[Bug 20602] Navigable TOC: Wikitext in section titles not parsed
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20602 --- Comment #4 from Trevor Parscal 2010-02-10 00:04:10 UTC --- There are so many levels in which solving this sort of thing could fail, it's just not worth it at this point. Another bug along these lines would be "headings created by templates are not shown". The thing is, wikitext is horrible as it is, with very loose and sometimes inconsistent rules which are defined by a particular implementation of a parser which has yet to be successfully ported to another language without skipping over large functional areas. So, in short, no, this will not be fixed until serious wikitext reform is achieved and a JavaScript wikitext parser is built. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. [Bug 22453] New: {{int}} template call partially uses content language rather than user language
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22453 Summary: {{int}} template call partially uses content language rather than user language Product: MediaWiki Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: Internationalization AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: d...@ucsc.edu The issue comes up when you want to get a localized message from the api that includes parser logic. For example: http://www.mediawiki.org/w/api.php?action=parse&uselang=wa&text={{int:undelete_short|0}}&format=json returns: Rapexhî 0 candjmints wa language uses singular form for zero, so the proper transformation per uselang should be: Rapexhî on candjmint It should certainly not be a mix of the "wa" language key with the "English" plural parser logic. There are two possible solutions that I see: 1) We use "uselang" language instead of wgContentLang when doing action=parse. This could add a check at the api level for uselang and override wgContentLang. or 2) We could have a separate api entry point for localizations with transforms ( ie extend the meta=allmessages entry point with msg arguments. [Bug 5004] Keep the pipe trick ([[Piped link|]]) syntax in wikitext instead of converting it at pre-save transform
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5004 --- Comment #2 from Conrad Irwin 2010-02-09 19:15:35 UTC --- Created an attachment (id=7093) --> (https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/attachment.cgi?id=7093) A patch to fix this I am not comfortable with fixing this myself, it seems like a very drastic change for very little benefit (particularly now the pipe trick works during normal parsing too). While the usabiltiy concern that it might be less easy to read the wikitext if the pipe trick is left, was countered by the argument that then people would find out about the pipe trick sooner, and thus increase productivity. The other downside is the possibility that this will cause problems for consumers and future parsers of wikitext, who have to reimplement the pipe trick for themselves; particularly if they are not expecting to find unexpanded links in the source. At the moment, having it in both places allows templates to work using the "in-parse" mode, while normal pages (and thus normal consumers) will always see the expanded version. As it seems there is an overwhelming amount of support for removing as much as possible from the PST, I have attached a trivial patch to fix this issue. (anyone applying it will need to upgrade the parser tests that it breaks) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug.
