Before I implement it, I'd like to get some feedback. Special:Userinfo should be linked from Special:Contributions and perhaps in the toolbar of user/user_talk pages. It should contain: * A list of user groups the user is currently in * A list of user rights that are implied by the user groups (Optional, it could also just be a link to Special:Listgrouprights) * A simple Editcounter (Yeah I know this is unpopular, but it's often useful) * A list of user subpages (using a Pager) * Various links (e.g. to logs, other special pages) The general idea is to disburden Special:Contributions, which got filled up with more and more links over time. There should be central page for automatically generated information, statistics about a user and useful links. I know that the information is already *there*, but often it isn't linked anywhere and distributed on many pages (e.g. Special:Listusers/username?limit=1, Special:Listgrouprights, Special:Prefixindex/User:username, etc.) Any suggestions on the idea as a whole or individual parts of the page? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 22517] New: Can the extension social rewarding be enabled on a small wiki like sewp?
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22517 Summary: Can the extension social rewarding be enabled on a small wiki like sewp? Product: Wikimedia Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: Normal Component: Site requests AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: vac...@jeb.no The extension for social rewarding may be an interesting option for small wikis struggling to get working community. Without sufficient interest there will not be many active users, and without enough active users no community will emerge. Various kinds of social rewarding may be a simple yet efficient way to initiate a community. By visualizing which ones are active we will increase the interest somewhat, perhaps enough that an initial community will start to emerge. There are one extension called SocialRewarding (http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:SocialRewarding) which may be sufficient for test purposes. Unfortunately it seems like it have some load issues. Still in a wiki that is rather small, like the one at Northern Sami language (http://se.wikipedia.org), it may not be a very big issue. Later when the community exists the extension may be turned off. Until then it seems to be an important asset. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22516 --- Comment #2 from Church of emacs church.of.emacs...@gmail.com 2010-02-14 18:36:51 UTC --- Yeah, that kind of information, plus anything else that might be useful (e.g. list of subpages to the userpage). To clarify: you'd get information about any user (through Special:Userinfo/username), not just info about your own account. There should not be any privacy issues, because all the information is already publicly available (with exception of an editcounter, however it is possible to find out the amount of edits through Special:Contributions or (on WMF projects) through the toolserver). I don't want to make this an extension because imho not having info distributed over many pages is something basic, that every wiki should have, and not special interest functionality that only few wikis need. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are watching all bug changes. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l
[Bug 22521] New: Cascade-protecting files should protect the file, not the description page
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22521 Summary: Cascade-protecting files should protect the file, not the description page Product: MediaWiki Version: 1.16-svn Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: Normal Component: Page protection AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: happy-me...@live.com Depends on: 6579 Currently inlining an image on a cascade-protected page protects the image, which is good. Bug 6579 introduces functionality that allows only the file to be protected, not the description page. Only changes which actually affect the cascade-protected page should be prevented, which in this case means changing the file pointed to. So cascade protection of inlined images should be to protect the file, not the description page. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 22469] Wikipedia Mobile needs to follow the fallback scheme
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22469 --- Comment #2 from Siebrand siebr...@wikipedia.be 2010-02-14 20:41:25 CET --- (In reply to comment #1) Does this concern content languages, or interface languages ? Interface languages. 'als' itself does not have any localisation, because Allemanisch, aka Swiss German has ISO 639-3 code 'gsw'. So it is localised in 'gsw'. zh-yue is localised in 'yue'. So if the Wikimedia Mobile only takes 'als' and 'zh-yue' respectively into account, those versions will not have any localisation. Similarly, 'arz' (Egyptian Spoken Arabic) has a fallback to 'ar' (Arabic). In MediaWiki this means that if Arabic is fully localised, but Egyptian Spoken Arabic is ony partially localised, the missing strings will not be replaced with English, but with Arabic strings. You can grep '$fallback' in http://svn.wikimedia.org/viewvc/mediawiki/trunk/phase3/languages/messages/ for the fallback languages. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are watching all bug changes. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 17790] User Will Not stayed logged in on HughesNet
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17790 Dan supp...@dantechservices.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||supp...@dantechservices.com --- Comment #11 from Dan supp...@dantechservices.com 2010-02-15 06:27:45 UTC --- I work with a number of Hughes-connected customers in Alaska. We work with a number of authentication required sites, such as Moodle, WordPress, and other CMS sites with WikiMedia being a major component for one of my customers. Everybody on the Hughes.net connections experiences the same problems as noted above but only on the WikiMedia section of their site. With over 3,000 registered users, their site shows the following Page statistics: Content pages4,302 Pages (All pages in the wiki, including talk pages, redirects, etc.)13,152 Uploaded files7,210 Edit statistics Page edits since OpenContent was set up49,382 Average edits per page3.75 Known fact or not regarding Hughes.net connections, I'd suggest that this problem can be resolved as we do not see similar characteristics with the other CMS sites we run. I can provide more information if needed. Please let me know what you need, although I must request this info from end users as I am not on a Hughes connection. Thank you. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug.
