https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24892 Summary: Check for wrongly set system clock on login Product: MediaWiki Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: User login AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: gti...@gmail.com From time to time someone runs into the problem that his system clock is set more than a month in the future, rendering login cookies immediately invalid. This means that logging into MediaWiki is impossible - the logon seems to work, but on the next page load, he is logged out again. This is a very annoying bug as the system clock is not something one would typically check for login problems so usually the afflicted person is unable to use the wiki for days until the problem is located. It would be nice to include a timestamp in the successful login page, compare it to the system clock via javascript, and either show a warning or just extend the validity of the cookie if the system clock seems to be off. This moves the text below its ideal position, making it difficult to compare the text and the image side by side (because the vertical alignment is incorrect) * The image doesn't fit in the page, going too much to the right. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 24199] DynamicPageList2 has security issues
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24199 --- Comment #3 from Bawolff bawolff...@gmail.com 2010-08-21 18:55:18 UTC --- (In reply to comment #2) It seems as something happened to $wgRawHtml in MW 1.16.0 Either it is now depreciated or it is broken, since extensions using it (true) do not work any longer. In the first case Manual:$wgRawHtml should be updated in the latter a new bug should be filed. However the release notes of ME 1.16.0 do not mention $wgRawHtml. Still I am not aware what happended exactly. It changed at which point the variable was looked at (its looked at when the parser is initialized, not at parse time), so extensions abusing it in certain ways stopped working. I think this change happened at r61913. Personally I think extensions messing with it seems like an inherently bad idea, and I can't think of one good reason that an extension should set it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 24898] New: MediaWiki uses /tmp even if a vHost-specific tempdir is set
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24898 Summary: MediaWiki uses /tmp even if a vHost-specific tempdir is set Product: MediaWiki Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: major Priority: Normal Component: History/Diffs AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: mediawiki-b...@cboltz.de My apache config contains for every virtual host a line like this: SetEnv TMP /home/www/example.com/tmp/ to have tempfiles in a directory specific to each virtual host. Unfortunately MediaWiki ignores $TMP and always uses /tmp. AFAIK this behaviour was introduced in 1.16 - I did not notice it in 1.15. The bug is in includes/GlobalFunctions.php: function wfTempDir() { if( function_exists( 'sys_get_temp_dir' ) ) { return sys_get_temp_dir(); } foreach( array( 'TMPDIR', 'TMP', 'TEMP' ) as $var ) { $tmp = getenv( $var ); if( $tmp file_exists( $tmp ) is_dir( $tmp ) is_writable( $tmp ) ) { return $tmp; } } # Hope this is Unix of some kind! return '/tmp'; } Basically the function does the checks in the wrong order. On PHP = 5.2.1 sys_get_temp_dir() exists and will always return /tmp - it ignores $TMP, see the comments on http://php.net/sys_get_temp_dir The correct order would be: 1. $TMPDIR, $TMP, $TEMP 2. sys_get_temp_dir() 3. /tmp fallback Patch: (3 lines moved) --- includes/GlobalFunctions.php(Revision 71214) +++ includes/GlobalFunctions.php(Arbeitskopie) @@ -2137,15 +2137,15 @@ * @return String */ function wfTempDir() { - if( function_exists( 'sys_get_temp_dir' ) ) { - return sys_get_temp_dir(); - } foreach( array( 'TMPDIR', 'TMP', 'TEMP' ) as $var ) { $tmp = getenv( $var ); if( $tmp file_exists( $tmp ) is_dir( $tmp ) is_writable( $tmp ) ) { return $tmp; } } + if( function_exists( 'sys_get_temp_dir' ) ) { + return sys_get_temp_dir(); + } # Hope this is Unix of some kind! return '/tmp'; } Rating as major because it causes some interesting problems - open_basedir restrictions or in my case AppArmor restrictions might apply. Sidenote: The code trusts sys_get_temp_dir() blindly - it does not check if it exists, is a directory and is writeable. Maybe you should add a check for this, similar to the code used for $TMPDIR/$TMP/$TEMP.
