They're loaded as modules=site and modules=user, not something generic.

If you click on "Upload More Files" from the Use step, Firefox gives you a
resubmit warning: "To display this page, Firefox must send information that
will repeat any action (such as a search or order confirmation) that was
performed earlier."

Either the way this button functions should be changed, or the UploadWizard
should perform a Post/Redirect/Get instead of a simple Post upon completing the
Describe step. I imagine the first option would be simpler.

In some contexts, it would be nice if the user could click on the "arrowhead"
 items in order to skip to a certain step. To start with, I would suggest
being able to click on Upload when you're on the Learn step (since people may
not scroll all the way to the bottom of the Learn page) and vice versa (since
people may want to refer back to the tutorial after skipping it).

I would imagine any sort of simplified reporting mechanism would be best put
into a separate area in BZ (e.g. a new project category).  Those issues would
then be moved into the area currently used by developers as part of the triage
process.

It wouldn't need to be a separate database, but could be effectively treated as
one.

Clarification:

The problem likely arises from the fact that translateable pages
only exist once for all languages. The defining page contains invariant parts
plus a set of transcluded parts, each of which is translated individually and
independently. Ony at transclusion time, a distinction is made as to which
translated language the transcluded parts are taken from, at least as to my
understanding.

The date/time of last modification is taken from the single defining page.
Thus it is independent of the actual translation and independant of
the language that users actually read, and independent of when each
translation was made, although they usally are not made at the same times.

It would be more user friendly to display the most recent of the modification
date/times of the transcluded pieces of a translation since these pertain to
the text that the users read,

Alternatively, one could think about a message of the kind:

"The (language) original of this page was last modifies at (date/time) and its
(language) translation at (date/time)"

Or have its own database. I imagine any wizard will lead to a lot of false
positives, so it probably makes sense to have a wall in between a wizard for
the general community and the tracker that developers use. But maybe directly
interfacing with Bugzilla makes more sense. That's for the extension author to
debate and decide.

Translatable pages having a footer "This page was last modified on …" display a
date/time unrelated to the translated content.

Better show the date/time of the last change of the most recently edited
component of a translated page rather than that of the (normally much older)
base page. I believe, users would interpret "latest change" pertaining to the
translated text.

is incomplete. A delay needs a time interval or duration, which is not
mentioned here. As it is, the sentence is not understandable.

url("MediaWiki:Foo") is a relative path too, but if a separate bug is wanted I

If the members of the all visitors group lack permission to create accounts
($wgGroupPermissions['*']['createaccount']=false;), the OpenID Login shall
respect this global setting and never allow the creation of new accounts, but
only allow to connect the OpenID with an _existing_ account.

A patch of SpecialOpenIDLogin.Body.php will be attached.

diff pages would be one of them.


People at wikinews also complained that loading css in this manner
significantly degrades the user experience for people who have css on, but JS
disabled. (

The order in which we're loading CSS and Javascript is causing some rather
unsightly reflows on more complicated pages (e.g. diff pages, recent changes,
page editing).  Even though the CSS and Javascript is being delivered to the
browser faster using Resource Loader, this delivery speed benefit is more than
offset by the performance penalties of the reflows.

load, even though the elements are present in the page itself. Obviously this
is bad: loading styles after page load is only acceptable for things that get
inserted by JS (which happens after the styles are loaded). Flashes of unstyled
content should not happen."

This is a work item to find and fix areas where we're loading CSS dynamically
where we don't need to, and switch to static loading in those cases

The symptoms of the bug I (NoX) reported are DIFFERENT in so far as any entry
in the search fild (using French or German WIKTIONARY) do NOT PROVIDE ANY
SUGGESTION, wheter they contain special characters or not.

The method provided until three or four days ago was in so far very useful in
WIKTIONARYs, if you keyed in the word incorrectly e.g. (German) "hat" you got
the recommendation "hatte" and "hätte"; or (French) "reve" you got "rève".

There must be something like a recent bug or a kind of malimprovement.

In the RC, if I'm an admin, block log entries (on 1.17wmf1 [tested enwikinews])
look like:

# (Block log); 22:36 . . Foo (Talk | contribs | block) blocked Somebody (Talk |
contribs) with an expiry time of indefinite (account creation disabled, cannot
edit own talk page) (Comment about block)

I would expect their to be an unblock link in the (Talk | contribs) links. So
the line should look like:

# (Block log); 22:36 . . Foo (Talk | contribs | block) blocked Somebody (Talk |
contribs | unblock) with an expiry time of indefinite (account creation
disabled, cannot edit own talk page) (Comment about block)

I thought this was the case in 1.16, but can't remember for sure.

Rather than reinventing the loader for wiki pages I think we better ingrate
with what we already have.

ie.

mw.loader.wikiLoad( 'User:Liangent/Scripts/a.js' ), which internally will use
the same as used for "MediaWiki:Common.js" and "User:Liangent/vector.js"

Regarding mw.loader.pageGo(), you can use an array of modules in mw.loader.load
or mw.loader.using.

mw.loader.load( ['jquery.colorUtil', 'jquery.hoverIntent',
'jquery.ui.autocomplete'] );

or:

mw.loader.using( ['jquery.ui.widget', 'jquery.ui.mouse'], function(){
  // do fancy stuff with widgets and mice.
});

both only make 1 http request:
mw.loader.pageLoad( ['User:Liangent/Scripts/a.js',
'User:Liangent/Scripts/b.js', 'User:Liangent/Scripts/c.js'] );

Adding a wikiLoad function I think is a great idea that is a must-have.
However, again, it should not map to mw.loader.load(
http://.org/w/?title=TITLE&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript); but instead
really go to the server and minify it like it would do for User:/vector.js or
MediaWiki:Common.js

Why not simply remove the hard-code and change
($this->kblength > 29) to ($wgMaxRecommendedArticleSize > 0 && $this->kblength
> $wgMaxRecommendedArticleSize)
It would be more efficient than using a message and especially parser functions
for users who want to keep the warning.

I'll check this out later. For now I'll just note to self and others that the
reason for the addition of the background was better detection of whitespace.

sometimes a line looked like:

- function fooBarThing( $here, $that = FOO_BAR, $somethingElse ) { 
+ function fooBarThing( $here, $that = FOO_BAR, $somethingElse ) {

Where one may look for several seconds to catch the difference wheares with a
background you'd notice the former line has a space after the opening curly
bracket.

This seems to be caused by an empty value for the usebetatoolbar preferences
for this user. This affects other preferences and other users as well, probably
on all wikis. Either Tim or I will write a script to fix all of these and run
it.

Loading multiple at once can be done by using an array in mw.loader.load().
this already combines them.

Also mw.loader.using() supports this behaviour.

Adding a green background to the  tags in CodeReview makes the descenders
disappear. See attached screenshot. 

I don't like it anyway, the contrast is too low.

In a laer version of ResourceLoader we should support registering modules on
the client side (ie. which scripts, styles, dependancies, messages etc.)
however aside from that being able to queue things in general will be helpful.

All modules loaded by default are queued once and then loaded at once with
mw.loader.go().

In order to allow wikis, users and gadget makers to use multiple scripts with
one http request as well a mw.loader.wait() needs to be implemented.

This way a script can have:

mw.loader.wait();
mw.loader.load(["jquery.colorUtil", "jquery.hoverIntent",
"jquery.ui.autocomplete"]);
mw.loader.go();

Which radio button?

While there would only one possibility the first time you click, you can end up
in a situation where it's not obvious which should be selected. In this
screenshot I want to click the radio button on the right, but the radio button
on the left can also be selected. Without clicking on the right radio button,
how will the software know that's the option I want?

Importing CSS via a shorthand method without JavaScript is indeed not possible,
but please note that hit has never been possible. That's not a regression but a
feature request.

People using relative paths in import with query strings (which is fairly
rare), can simply complete the url.

I believe it's worth considering to remove the list style icon from the history
page. It's not really necessary, since MediaWiki's own style of the history
list is pretty recognizable where one list entry starts and ends. Also, it's a
bit misplaced there, just not fitting into the layout. Check it out with CSS
changed to display no list style icon, I believe it looks much cleaner without
a list style icon, though this is obviously a debatable topic.

Note: I only checked it within the new Vector skin, no idea if it would look ok
in other skins.
