https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27172 --- Comment #4 from mybugs.m...@gmail.com 2011-04-29 13:49:13 UTC --- (In reply to comment #3) Where you really using one of those two ips? I believe so, although I don't know how to check if those accounts were indeed created from the given IPs. However, I do know that those LIPs were used in some edits to the book entitled Logística: * b:pt:Special:Contributions/193.136.124.200 * b:pt:Special:Contributions/193.136.126.36 By the way, after exceeding the limit of 6, some accounts were created by going to another Wikimedia Project (where the limit wasn't reached yet), create the account there, and then come back to Portuguese Wikibooks to start editing. Is the wgAccountCreationThrottle supposed to work like that with SUL or is this just a bug which allow us to workaround the limit? Should we close this bug and reopen it when the feature is needed again? Or is it better to open different bugs for each time we need it (until 25000 is fixed)? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. Four supports against one oppose, which made 80% votes in favor (including 3 sysop supports). I belive, this is regarded as local community consensus for a small wiki like Bengali Wikipedia. Please note: For FlaggedRevs, we would like to have the same settings like the current enwiki settings. See that here: http://en.wikipedia.org/?oldid=420880541. [Bug 28748] New: One multibyte character in parser function output kills all article content
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28748 Bug #: 28748 Summary: One multibyte character in parser function output kills all article content Product: MediaWiki Version: 1.16.4 Platform: All OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: major Priority: Unprioritized Component: General/Unknown AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: mediaw...@blazemonger.com Classification: Unclassified Created attachment 8474 -- https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/attachment.cgi?id=8474 Parser function extension Bug.php causes article text to be truncated If a parser function returns any multibyte characters, even one, all article content gets truncated. The article has no content when rendered. This is simple to reproduce reliably with PHP 5.3.3 and MediaWiki 1.16.4. 1. Make sure your PHP is 5.3. We have 5.3.3 on our Linux host (CentOS 5.6). 2. Install the wiki extension Bug.php, attached to this report. 3. Create an article with three lines: This is the first line. This is the last line. 4. Save the article. The MediaWiki page is rendered but the article content is empty. View the HTML source and see there is no article text below the start content comment. I have reproduced this on 3 different wiki servers. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28740 --- Comment #1 from Brion Vibber br...@wikimedia.org 2011-04-29 18:17:46 UTC --- Using the opensearch interface is probably the right thing to do; it'll also pick up improvements on the search like not being limited to strict prefix matches in an advanced search engine. We should make sure that there's a dead-easy way to slap a standard typeahead search suggestion box with given namespace limit settings onto any field, since this is going to be pretty common in advanced editing tools. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

Aharoni amir.ahar...@mail.huji.ac.il 2011-04-29 19:13:27 UTC --- I was about to close this bug, because it generated no interest since full-text searching was fixed, but today i noticed something that made me think that maybe it should be fixed. The current mobile Wikipedia is really only for Wikipedia. I tried using Wiktionary today from my phone, and i couldn't run a search - i can write the word in the search box, but my phone doesn't have a way to send an Enter-like event. This is true for my Samsung Monte, for Symbian-based Nokia phones and maybe for many others. On the iPhone the SimpleSeach drop-down works, although not without issues. On the Mobile Wikipedia this is solved by putting near the input box a button that actually runs the search and can be pressed by the Symbian mouse-like pointer, by the Samsung touchscreen or by whatever there is in the other phones. Until there's a new mobile WikiMedia app, this button should be added to Wikimedia projects. Marking this as High priority - it's nearly impossible to search non-Wikipedia projects on many mobile devices until it's solved. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28747 --- Comment #2 from SoWhy a...@sowhy.de 2011-04-29 19:33:39 UTC --- Blocking autocreation would probably not work without heavy modifications, also that would still allow impersonation of prominent users on little known side projects, for example by claiming to be an en-wiki admin on en-wikiversity. On a side note, AntiSpoof probably needs to be improved as well, as seen in the recent attack of impersonation accounts on en-wiki. For example, AntiSpoof does not block the creation of usernames with a single character changed unless that character is similar to the changed one (SöWhy is blocked but SüWhy is not). On a short username like mine, a change of a character is easily noticed but if the username has 15+ characters or if the username is complicated, many people will not notice the change, so it would probably be good if AntiSpoof checked how much the new username has in common with existing ones. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 28483] Please add priority to advanced fields when entering a new bug.
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28483 --- Comment #5 from Mark A. Hershberger m...@everybody.org 2011-04-29 20:09:29 UTC --- (In reply to comment #4) I received a series of e-mails because of the priorities changed in bugs submitted by me. They were all set the same I had done, if I had set them. In other words: Having had the opportunity to set priorities at the bug reporting page, that had saved another person adjusting them and sending and recieving and reading some e-mails meanwhile, without making anything else worse. You can change when emails are sent to you if you want. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28749 --- Comment #1 from Béria Lima berial...@gmail.com 2011-04-29 20:18:43 UTC --- (In reply to comment #0) Years ago, a mailing list dedicate to the creation of Brazilian chapter was created (ver bug number 15446) (continuing :D ) that mailing was create to discus the creation of WMBR (wikimedia brasil), but after some internal problems became a general list to all brazilian community. Now, there are a proposal to create a chapter, and two mailing list with the same name could be very confusing, so i'm requesting the creation of two mailing lists: 1. WikiBrasil-I - to be the general list (as the actual one) - if possible please transfer all history of messages to that new list. 2. wmBR-I - who will be the mailing list to the new proposal of chapter. I really don't have any idea of what to do with wikimediabr-I. But i believe the best way would turn the mail wikimediab...@lists.wikimedia.org into a redirect to the first one (i.e. wikibrasi...@lists.wikimedia.org) for a while, and after close it. The actual Burmese Wikipedia does seem to work in the same browser, so i have a font installed, but in the links list the link is not seen, so the reader has to guess that that is the language. This does work correctly in Firefox on the same computer. I opened articles with a lot of interlanguage links, like True Jesus Church :), and i didn't see any other language that is affected by this problem, but i use Internet Explorer very rarely, so it's possible that there are others. It's not something that has been given much if any attention in the past year or so :( Thanks Roan - we decided to try the trunk version as the stable branch (r74799) has awful behaviour pasting formatted text from MS Word - it apepars in the edit window with all its formatting rather than as plain text as it should, but if you save the edits it obliterates all the page content except the first line only of what was pasted. I could report a separate bug for this but it seems to have been resolved in the more recent builds. Guess we'll revert back to the stable branch version as we'd identified workarounds for the bug by pasting from word into notepad, then pasting that plain text into the wiki, or using a Word Add-in to save as MediaWiki format.
