It does not seem to work. Is there something wrong in our MediaWiki:WikiLove.js
or has it something to do with Liquid Threads perhaps?

When using the Interwiki extension, you can put all sorts of garbage into the
"prefix" field (such as "<>[]|") and it'll be gladly accepted and stored. The
input should probably be validated for legal title characters, at a minimum.
Interwiki prefixen may have stricter rules (bound to ASCII?). That'll require
some research.

I guess the URL field in the Interwiki extension's log isn't sanitized before

appears to be an XSS vulnerability, even if the extension is generally limited

If you are talking about 1.18, it would be better to put this as a tarball
blocker.

I think it is best way to interpret that statement ("now supports women") is
that there is *any* support for gender rather than saying the support doesn't
have any issues.

Is the support bug free?
No.

Is there some support where there was none before?
Yes.

Are there plans to improve this support?
Yes

So we've only begun to support women. It isn't like a switch that can be
flipped on and off.

FYI: the welcome pages are now deployed so the Wx/xyz pages are nicer and
user-friendly.

Btw, I was thinking..
Maybe it is possible to (temporarily) redirect the missing wiki page
() through
PHP's header() or an HTML meta refresh. (This would require some PHP to make
xyz.wikiproject.org go to incubator:Wx/xyz but that's easier than Apache
config.)
Just an idea..

When searching for "fiets" (dutch for bicycle) in English Wikipedia,
[[Bicycle]] is second in the list of results. But the displayed text is not
always the same. Most times it shows the beginning of the article (which does
not include that word or any similar words):

 Bicycle
 Bicycle (disambiguation) File:Marin bike. jpg | A mountain bike , a popular
multi-use bicycle. A bicycle, also known as a bike, pushbike or ...
 55 KB (7,627 words) - 02:20, 26 August 2011

But sometimes it displays the language links which has the words "fiets":

 Bicycle
 [[af:Fiets]] [[nl:Fiets]]
 55 KB (8,105 words) - 02:20, 26 August 2011

The sample text and the word count are different.

Searching for translations of bicycle in other languages ("cykel", "fietse",
"sykkel") does not usually find [[Bicycle]]. Unless that word is also used in
other places than the language links, like German "Fahrrad" in the name of an
image. So it looks like language links should not not usually be included in
the search.

[Bug 164] Support collation by a certain locale (sorting order of characters)

2011-08-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=164

--- Comment #230 from Philippe Verdy 2011-08-27 11:06:18
UTC ---
Until recently, it was too slow to initialize a large table like the DUCET. But
now that Javascript starts being used for 2D/3D rendering with interactive
speed, demonstrating complex animations, I don't think this is a performance
issue. The only issue is the code size that must be loaded once (that's why I
spoke about caching the DUCET and loading it by parts, on demand). But note
that the DUCET is not as large as the full Unicode. You can easily exclude the
Hangul syllables, and the sinograms, and can autobuild some parts of it for
blocks of symbols. The core of the implementation is already written for the
DUCET-based collation, I need more work to instantiate tailorings. But I've not
determined the best way to handle on-demand loading of the DUCET. In addition,
if I can finalize it, I will need a way to regenerate with some automatic tool
the representation of the DUCET for each release of Unicode. For now I just use
a static table, created with lots of manual operations: a code generator will
be needed (just like in all existing full implementations of UCA).

--- Comment #229 from Andrew Dunbar 2011-08-27 10:03:28

@Philippe Verdy: I think work on the bigger Unicode problems for JavaScript is
pretty important. I tried to file a bug or feature request somewhere a couple
of years ago and the sentiment from the js community was that Unicode was too
big and unneeded, would bloat js and be too slow. I couldn't convince whoever
was my audience that you just need it and in any case the js implememtations
should be hooking into Unicode APIs provided by their host OS or browser which
must have them anyway.

I have implemented some character/script property stuff from Unidata in js and
for my purposes found it very fast indeed to do everything with binary search.
And all the js implementations are much faster now.

I was doing stuff like looking up the script of every character in an HTML
page.

I've also implemented internationalized sorting including UCA of page titles in
en.wiktionary using the toolserver as a back end. All work was done on a first
generation netbook (-: You have my support. Is there somewhere I can watch your

Fix displaying list of deleted pages

I have created a patch, which replaces makeTitleSafe with makeTitle. It allows
to display deleted pages corretly without dereferencing null pointer. However,
it is still impossible to view or undelete a page with an invalid title.

Fixed in r95595
The cookie value when reset was not using the correct path, resulting 'none' as
one cookie and other font selections in another cookie. Thanks for reporting.

Add image links from Page namespace to corresponding images.

If I understood you correctly I have prepared patch which insert image links
form Page namespace. For example if there is a Page:Some book.djvu/001 there
will be created link to File:Some booj.djvu.

I have put the code in ParserAfterTidy hook. I am not completly certain if it
is the best place to do so.

After deployment, it would be a good idea to run refreshLinks.php maintenance
script, but only after bug 23287 was fixed.

More than one cookie two remember selection

WebFonts set cookies for different paths making my font selection not global.
Please see attached.

I think my selection should be global within the site.
