[Bug 34280] Oracle installer throw SET CONSTRAINTS ALL DEFERRED PL/SQL error

2012-02-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34280

--- Comment #14 from Jure Kajzer fr...@drajv.si 2012-02-16 08:30:23 UTC ---
OK, Found it ... the problem occurs if you try to use a predefined account and
there seems to be a bug when the installer tries to switch from install user to
web access user.

Until this is fixed you can use a simple workaround by entering the same
credentials into User account for installation and Database account for web
access ... leave Create the account if it does not already exist unchecked

Oh and another thing ... for Christ's, Santa Clause's, Easter Bunny's or for
that matter any other fictional character's sake ... DO NOT USE A USER WITH DBA
ROLE for a web access account.
If you want to manually create the user, open the user.sql file in
maintenance/oracle folder and take a look at the required privileges. Using a
DBA role for a webpage backend is bad almost beyond words. #youhavebeenwarned

I just sent an email from mediawiki.org and noticed that the subject line
appeared twice in the email header. I tried it on my local wiki, running MW

MediaWiki code issue, not specific to the mediawiki.org setup.

Hi Ryan,

could you create a labs account for me, so I can use Gerrit and play around
with git? (I need a labs account for this according to
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Talk:Git/Workflow#Users_already_created.3F ). My
preferred wiki-username is tbleher. I already have an SVN account with
extensions access, which is also named tbleher. My preferred email address is

Thanks a lot!

I'm using a Debian 5.0.9, FastCGI hence php scripts are owned by a user.
SafeMode is activated and I don't have problems running the wiki using the
default skin.

If I activate the MobileFrontend Extension I am getting this errors in the
browser:

The wikipage itself is shown after this warnings

Are these warnings related? If not should I file three different bug reports?

Is there a way to hide this warnings?

In r111627 I created a branch for this. We can put the basic implementation in
there, and it will also contain a JavaScript implementation of the existing
grammar classes and QUnit tests for them.

Once we've worked everything out, have it coded and reviewed, we can merge the

The current checkuser extension does not show the hostname for each IP. While
it is not too embarrassing (hostnames being easily retrievable), it would save
a lot of time for checks on accounts using many different IPs.

Something like this would be more than fine:

(while viewing a user's IPs)
*  127.0.0.1 (localhost) (check) (block)

or

(while viewing the list of edits per IP or user)
* Link to a page that has been modified
** IP: 127.0.0.1 (localhost) UA: Mozilla/5.0 etc.

Thanks!

The set_time_limit() warning is indeed a bug.

The second issue is that sys_get_temp_dir() returns '/tmp' for which access is
denied by your PHP configuration. That is not related to MediaWiki.

The third error is probably related to /tmp not being accessible.

LibXDiff has an incorrect implementation of Adler-32. The byte order is wrong,
and the state is initialised to 0 instead of 1.

If a string can be found for which the Adler-32 hash is zero, then that could
be used to initialise mhash() or hash() to simulate LibXDiff's Adler-32.

As translator, I want to have a list of all messages with a common prefix
within a big group or across all groups, to be able to review subsets of
messages with similar characteristics, for instance all grouppage- messages
added by all MediaWiki extensions.

Still marking LATER per Siebrand on the other bug.

As in, if he doesn't reload Special:Translate after changing a message, the
Accept button is still there, can be pressed, it says that the translation
has been accepted and the action is logged.
This has no real consequences as the extension will correctly report the
translation as unreviewed.

Might be related to the fact that the review is logged as action on the page
rather than on a specific revision as mentioned on bug 34153?

Example:

Hard to describe, but because of how the content is arranged, on Firefox when
you press the accept button, at least in Italian, is becomes much bigger
(Accetta - In accettazione) and moves all the elements around, especially
if the message id is long and takes all the space, to the point that sometimes
your eyes cross and the cursor, which you already put where the next accept
button used to be, needs to be moved again. On Chromium it's ok.

The video will perhaps show it better (here I manage to point the next button
correctly, mostly)?

I know what you mean. It's something we know that needs to be addressed. It's a

allowed to go over the key name. If you have a CSS patch or something, please

Thanks for the quick setup! I just noticed that there is now both wikidata (the
new list) and wikidata-l (the old list). Would it make sense to just occupy the
old one, wikidata-l, using the official naming scheme (the list has not been
used for half a decade), and then delete wikidata, or should we now just live
with both lists and merrily use wikidata? I am fine with both, although I think
reusing wikidata-l will lead to less confusion (if we can delete wikidata).

Showing hostname on each IP will make system and network take more time to
complete a query. I don't suggest to do that.

We just need to do an asynchronous name resolution.

Looking at the code, Title initially is defined as null, and there's no

it hits $output-setTitle()

Need sanity checking on the title object, and possibly bail out from the method

The proposal at VP:P was:

I think Wikipedia should implement a Check Availability feature for
usernames (as offered by YouTube) for editors who are newly registering at
Wikipedia. As of now, if a username is already taken, the user have to retype
the password and the annoying CAPTCHA after choosing a new username.
Implementation of this proposed feature will save a lot of time

(
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_%28proposals%29#.22Check_Availability.22_feature_for_usernames
)

As it achieved a unanimous consensus for support, I brought it here.

MWJames - I finally looked into this. Having a limit for the query is a good
idea, but maybe having it as a form input is overkill? Another option is to
just have it as a LocalSettings.php setting, so that it defaults to 500 or
something, but the admin can change it if necessary.

Yes, in two weeks.

This bug is fundamentally breaking SMW.

It's a formatting issue of values in one of the lesser used data types, does
not seem like a very fundamental issue :)

It was also hard to find. We now understand that it does not break any of the
 testing browser

As far as I can see this is not browser related at all, so how do you figure it
is?

[Bug 34449] New: 1.19 change to display bytes added by [edit], as opposed to total page size after [edit]

2012-02-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34449

   Web browser: ---
 Bug #: 34449
Summary: 1.19 change to display bytes added by [edit], as
opposed to total page size after [edit]
   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: 1.19
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Unprioritized
 Component: History/Diffs
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: oke...@wikimedia.org
Classification: Unclassified

So, 1.19 means that page histories, instead of displaying the total size of a
page in rounded brackets by each edit, display the number of bytes added or
subtracted in the same way that Special:RecentChanges or Special:Watchlist do.
This is on occasion useful, but there are a lot of things that, communally,
we've built on the implicit assumption that an editor can easily see the total
size of a page. An example, on enwiki, is
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:SIZERULE#A_rule_of_thumb - the general
guideline rule of thumb for when a page has become Too Large, and should be
split. It's based around size in kb, and the 1.19 change means that can't
easily be found any more. Even on pages not ruled by this (talkpages,
ferinstance) it's still a useful rule of thumb. The only real alternative is to
wait until browsers start to lag before you do anything.

That being said, I find knowing how much was added/taken away to be really
useful. Maybe it should be (pagesize) +bytesadded instead of having to choose
between (pagesize) and (bytesadded).

[Bug 34450] New: navigation and tabbing issues, multiple browsers

Chrome arrow incorrect

on http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page

Chrome and Firefox and IE7:
Reload page several times. Collapsible headers Community/Beyond the Web/etc.
are expanded briefly before final state.

Firefox and IE7: best behavior. Previously expanded headers remain expanded
after reload.

Chrome: Final state of those expanded lists may be collapsed or expanded in
seemingly random way.
Expanded header shows expanded (arrow points right) after reload but is not.
See screen shot. (note: it is possible that this happens in other browsers, but
I observed it in Chrome particularly.)

Tabbing behavior:

Chrome: tabs through each header and link on page. Does tab to hidden Jump
to:navigation search links.

Firefox: tabs through headers and textboxes but not links. Does not tab to
hidden Jump to:navigation search links.

IE7: same behavior as Chrome, but Jump to links are shown badly. See screen
shot.

I'm guessing this has something to do with the php not liking it when a

[Bug 34451] New: Heavy DB Usage from API call

2012-02-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34451

   Web browser: ---
 Bug #: 34451
Summary: Heavy DB Usage from API call
   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Unprioritized
 Component: API
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: m...@everybody.org
CC: bryan.tongm...@gmail.com, roan.katt...@gmail.com,
s...@reedyboy.net, soxre...@gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified

It seems to me that the activeusers parameter in the allusers API-query
[http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/API:Allusers] is quite heavy on the database.

I tried

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=querylist=allusersaugroup=ipblock-exemptaulimit=100auactiveusers=1
earlier today which was Served by mw7 in 16.976 secs. It's probably in an SQL
cache now because I can get the result much quicker now.
Seeing that I followed with a request that is not filtered by group, which
timeouts:

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=querylist=allusersaulimit=1auactiveusers=1

Looking at the code I see that it's implemented as a grouped JOIN of
`recentchanges` and `user` with an un-indexed WHERE; I'm no MYSQL expert but
that doesn't seem like a good idea on enWP.

I am in the process of resolving that with Milos, who is the current admin of
wikidata-l. As soon as we have the admin password, we can delete the new
wikidata list. Sorry if I caused any trouble! (or we can rename it to
wikidata-announce if that is easier than deleting, and use it for that. I will
then change the descriptions)

[Bug 34280] Oracle installer throw SET CONSTRAINTS ALL DEFERRED PL/SQL error

2012-02-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34280

--- Comment #15 from Joe jfehr...@caci.com 2012-02-16 18:54:07 UTC ---
(In reply to comment #14)
OK, Found it ... the problem occurs if you try to use a predefined account and
there seems to be a bug when the installer tries to switch from install user
 to
 web access user.

DO NOT USE A USER WITH
 DBA
ROLE for a web access account.
If you want to manually create the user, open the user.sql file in
maintenance/oracle folder and take a look at the required privileges. Using a
DBA role for a webpage backend is bad almost beyond words. #youhavebeenwarned

Jure thanks for the help. It did not work as planned though. It still is
throwing the same error. Plus I don't know if this is a JS error but the
checkbox doesn't appear the first time through I had to go backwards in the
installation for that checkbox. (I use Chrome) I will continue to try it but
no luck so far.
