The pref (OnlineStatusBar_autoupdate) is still in this extension. I can't see
why it would be useful, and cant see any deep purpose behind it in the code.
User pages arnt edited enough that it is useful to wait for another write.

Should we put up a patch to remove it?

[Bug 68089] New: Changing product on editing a bug doesn't load components immediately

2014-07-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68089

Bug ID: 68089
Summary: Changing product on editing a bug doesn't load
components immediately
 Product: Wikimedia
 Version: wmf-deployment
 Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Severity: normal
 Priority: Unprioritized
Component: Bugzilla
 Assignee: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
 Reporter: amanpreet.iitr2...@gmail.com
CC: aklap...@wikimedia.org, s...@reedyboy.net,
tylerro...@gmail.com
 Web browser: ---
 Mobile Platform: ---

Steps to reproduce:

Create a bug under wrong Product, try to edit and change the Product. Product's
component don't load in up in the component section.

Note: It asks for correcting component on save changes but its kind of awkward,
should be done in real time itself.

Steps to reproduce, I have tested this on IE, Chrome and Firefox,/

Go to page > Select Edit Source > Use advanced options to add a bullet list or
somethings else like gallery etc. > Press Ctrl + z to remove it and it doesn't
works.

[Bug 49890] Logging out on a different device logs me out everywhere else

2014-07-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49890

Before CentralAuth, logout was local, and password change was an effective
global logout, invalidating all sessions and persistent cookies. I remember
reimplementing this policy in r5523, I had no problem with it.

The change in policy for CentralAuth was apparently done by Andrew Garrett in
r33061. The doc comment on resetAuthToken() indicates that it was a deliberate
policy -- although the fact that it is a different policy from the core was not
noted. I reviewed it at the time (as evidenced by r33063), but I don't think I
considered the logout policy beyond accepting the emphatic rationale in the doc
comment.

I am fine with the idea of making logout local again, but I think a nice
additional feature would be to add a button to the logout success page which
allows you to explicitly log out from all devices, without having to reset your
password.

Textual criticism of the jQuery release announcement aside, the OOjs UI
textinput does not trigger its focus handler when focused. I don't think that's
expected behavior.

Here is a minimal testcase: http://jsfiddle.net/79gHj/
Compare with the click event, which works as expected:

Well, I suppose you could simply store it as yet another user preference, so
people who prefer user experience have their way and people who prefer security

There are templates that have a different name, but the same parameters. For
example, the many lang-XX templates. If I see that the parameter text is
correct, but an incorrect template was used, and the template should be
lang-ru and not lang-be, I can simply change the template name. In VE I
need to delete the whole template and re-add it. This is silly, but tolerable,
for a template with one parameter, but there are such templates with more
parameters.

Done by Tim in the CentralAuth extension? Cross-referencing a commit or SVN
revision would be helpful for me.

The current behavior (log out anywhere logs out everywhere) has probably become
the expected behavior. I've personally relied on the behavior to stop adminbots
running under my account, as I recall.

I would like to think that most users typically stay logged in on their devices
or use incognito mode on a public computer, but perhaps this is an overly
optimistic view.

PostgreSQL version: 9.3

A database error is thrown when visiting the Special:ActiveUsers page.
Initially I ran into the issue described in bug 67594 but hand-patched
DatabasePostgres.php (per the bug) to work around it. But even after that is
fixed, a different error appears:

Query:

"querycachetwo","mwuser","recentchanges" WHERE qcc_type = 'activeusers' AND
qcc_namespace = '2' AND (user_name = qcc_title) AND (rc_user_text = qcc_title)
AND (rc_type != '5') AND (NOT EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM "ipblocks" WHERE
(ipb_user=user_id) AND ipb_deleted = '1' )) GROUP BY qcc_title ORDER BY

Bug 21196 contains a similar error but in a completely different part of the
code.

After some research, I understand the issue somewhat but the fix is currently
beyond my own abilities.

[Bug 68085] New: Local interwiki prefix + lang code (e.g. w:de:Foo on enwiki) should not give interlanguage link

The link w:de:Foo on enwiki used to be equivalent to :de:Foo (i.e. it
was treated as an in-text interwiki link).

But, now that "w" has been correctly marked as a local interwiki for enwiki
(bug 954), w:de:Foo is treated as de:Foo (i.e. it appears in the
sidebar).

I think this behaviour is wrong. When you consider the use-case of cross-wiki
code reuse (copy/paste, import, scary transclusion), you would expect
w:de:Foo to appear consistently on all wikis as a regular interwiki link.
It's confusing to have it appear in the sidebar on some wikis and not others.

It makes intuitive sense to always treat localiw:langcode:Foo as if it was
:langcode:Foo.

Seems like the intended behaviour here. The interwiki link is not (strictly
speaking) "valid", since its target doesn't exist.

The redding of the link is currently only done for the local wiki, but if bug
11 is fixed, this would extend to all interwiki links.

[Bug 19986] Wikis waiting to be renamed (tracking)

2014-07-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19986

(In reply to Shinjiman from comment #19)
> As far as I know "nan" was made as redirect to "zh-min-nan" (bug 8217
> comment 10)
>
> It should make it the other way round, i.e. "zh-min-nan" -> "nan".

Same case for the redirect to the other way: "zh-yue" -> "yue".

One problem is that existing templates or modules are looking for fallbacks to
"zh" for missing translations by just looking for the presence of the "zh-"
prefix.

The complete BCP47 mechanism for language fallbacks remains to be implemented
in core MediaWiki (and then used in Lua, #language, the Translate extension
(including Translate admin interfaces), and various Lua modules, and various
legacy templates using #if or #switch).

And we need to port language fallback lists registered in each locale with CLDR
data. But here also the CLDR data are largely incomplete. We should then still
use our own more complete fallback rules even if some of them are criticable
notably when they are for minority languages as spoken in different countries
with very different major languages!

E.g. the Fallback for "gsw" should be "de" before "fr" in Germany and
Swizerland, but it should be "fr" before "de" in France; if a country code is
appended:
* "gsw-de" will only fallback to "de" ("fr" will be ignored, except possibly
near Aachen, or in Kehl and in Saarland very near from the French border),
before English
* "gsw-ch" will fallback to "de" before "fr" and then "en";
* "gsw-fr" (Alsacien) will fallback only to "fr" before English (German is not
considered acceptable locally).

Existing CLDR libraries also lacks support for the metadata in the IANA subtag
registry, when it suggests replacement codes for deprecated codes (that are
still conforming, and never deleted, even of their use is strongly discouraged
for new data, e.g. "jw" is still used instead of "jv", or "iw" instead of "he",
in many Java applications and in Android's version of Dalvik VM that has no
decent support of BCP47)

We also need a way to detect legacy BCP47 codes with unclear replacement, such
as "bi" (the only language family encoded with 3-letters in ISO 639-5 which is
also inherited with a 2-letter code from ISO 639-1, in addition to the 3-letter
code that was also added in ISO 639-2 long before, when it was incorrectly
considered as an isolated langage and today not even as a macrolanguage like
"qu" Quechua that is hardly a macroanguage and should become a family too in
ISO 639-5)

The implicit replacement subtags for many redundant ISO 639-2 and ISO 639-3
codes that have equivalent mappings to ISO 639-1 recommended by BCP47) should
be implemented without troubles, and other 3-letter codes rom ISO639-2(B) also
have a recommanded mapping to ISO639-2(T) if there's no ISO 639-1 (this is
compatible with the single code used either in ISO639-3 or ISO639-5).

There is never going to be a "sign post" feature integrated into VisualEditor
as deployed on WMF servers. That's the whole point of Flow. From a perspective
of "VisualEditor for WMF users", this is WONTFIXed.

This bug is not marked as "WONTFIX" though, because it's entirely plausible
that someone might want to run VisualEditor on a wiki without Flow (or LQT or
Message Wall or whatever).

Maybe we should bundle up Bartosz's code into a VE plug-in that's available for
users (but not on by default)?

 Product: Wikimedia
 Version: wmf-deployment

The code that creates pages using API fails with:

getaddrinfo: Name or service not known (Faraday::ConnectionFailed)

It seems sometimes there is a network problem. Probably related to bug 68083.

However, the upload itself isn't stalled - the user can fix the problem and
then proceed. Presumably the issue is that the validator cannot deal with a
completely blank UploadWizardDeed any more. Also, probably the default license
should be applied to the multiple deeds.

To replicate:

- Upload two or more photos.
- At the licensing step, ask to provide details for each item individually.
- Leave at least one item unlicensed (i.e. don't click anything in the license
area)
- Press "Next"
- The button does not take you to the next step, but also does not show any
errors. Nothing happens.

Considering the lack of an explicit close action, that will help to communicate
that you can close the panel by clicking there again (in addition to click
outside the list of languages) and avoid users to spend some seconds wondering
how to close it.

Copied from Pau's specifications:
*Surface languages used in content. Articles contain content in different
languages (e.g., an article about a Russian city will have the name in Russian
even on the english wikipedia). Those languages indicate a special connection
between the topic and the language. This may not be a language the user
understands (so this criteria should not be a priority) but it may be a good
option if there are remaining slots in the initial list of languages.

Example:
* I visit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leo_Tolstoy with compact interlanguage
linbks enabled
* The page contains Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy (Russian: Лев Никола́евич Толсто́й
* Whatever interface language and other conditions apply to me, the interwiki
to "ru" is displayed.

As long as we limit it to 1-2 languages per page this should be a rather
effective trick in the lucky (but important) cases where it applies, but it
depends how efficient it is to scan the whole page like that.

[Bug 67140] tapping on the search input in mobile frontend takes you to previous page

2014-07-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67140

I asked Moiz about moving the banner under the header, but he says it makes
more sense to leave it at the top. Other possible solutions:
* Use a touchend event to trigger the launch of the search overlay.
* Make sure the window.history.back() doesn't execute until the URL has been
rewritten and the M.router registration has finished executing.
* Make sure the search overlay is always positioned exactly above the search
header (also would need to reposition on window resize).
There are probably some other options as well.

Closing again: given bug 40810, this is better solved in bug 64797 by making
sure we preserve all the attributes Wikibase is going to add.

[Bug 67140] tapping on the search input in mobile frontend takes you to previous page

2014-07-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67140

OK, I think I know what's going on. When you click on the search input, the
search overlay renders at the top of the page. When there isn't a CentralNotice
banner, it renders under the user's finger. When there is a CentralNotice
banner (that's tall enough), it renders above the user's finger. The
SearchOverlay.js code includes a bit of logic (lines 70-73) that executes
window.history.back() whenever the user clicks outside of the overlay. This
normally just closes the overlay due to the M.router functionality. In this
case, the user clicking on the search input is getting read as a click outside
the search overlay (assuming the user's finger remains on the screen for more
than a split-second). Because either the URL hasn't been rewritten yet or the
M.router code hasn't finished executing, it actually sends the user to the
previous page when it executes window.history.back() (instead of just closing
the overlay).

[Bug 68074] New: CirrusSearch got "Flow workflow is for different page" errors in search setup maintenance script

2014-07-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68074

Bug ID: 68074
Summary: CirrusSearch got "Flow workflow is for different page"
errors in search setup maintenance script
 Product: MediaWiki extensions
 Version: master
 Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: NEW
 Severity: minor
 Priority: Unprioritized
Component: Flow
 Assignee: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
 Reporter: sp...@wikimedia.org
CC: dh...@wikimedia.org, ebernhard...@wikimedia.org,

 Mobile Platform: ---

I re-set up the Flow team's ee-flow-extra labs vagrant instance. I enabled the
flow and cirrussearch roles, then ran `sudo labs-vagrant provision`. The
instance had an existing mediawiki install and database that had Flow and I
think CirrusSearch running.

During provision, there was a failure from update.php in
CirrusSearch\Jenkins\CleanSetup->execute():
 Exception from line 120 of
/srv/vagrant/mediawiki/extensions/Flow/includes/WorkflowLoaderFactory.php: Flow
workflow is for different page

Detailed stack trace below. This may not be reproduceable hence low priority.

Error: /Stage[main]/Mediawiki/Exec[update database]: php
/vagrant/mediawiki/maintenance/update.php --quick returned 1 instead of one of
[0]
