If you want this to be used by other consumer (mobile web, mobile apps, etc.),
you really need to expose the banner image via an API. That way, each consumer
can decide what they want to do with the information.

@Wrh2, I guess ideally what you mean is, even if the extension is introduced,
the wikitext of the individual pages using the banner should remain unaffected
under all conditions?
