Deskana added a comment. If you want this to be used by other consumer (mobile web, mobile apps, etc.), you really need to expose the banner image via an API. That way, each consumer can decide what they want to do with the information.
Without getting into the ins and outs of the technical details, if the image is not exposed via an API separate from the main HTML of a page, the mobile app will either be totally unaware of the image or we'll be forced to strip the image for design/performance reasons, both of which will result in the app not using this at all.
