update.php on beta cluster took 17 seconds which basically locks the whole
beta cluster during the time:
- It purges object cache. Maybe we can reduce that.
- it tries to remove default value of lots of fields in each run because the

Oh I saw that when deploying. I honestly think we should do it the other way
around and move everything to the new script instead. The old code calls the

Yup, it's a known problem that its fix got merged last night (look at the
above comment by gerritbot). It can be also backported but I leave that to the
reading team.

Indeed but the underlying problem is not solved. We still get pages because
WDQS lags for so long that edit for wkidata falls below alert threshold.

I'm okay with undeprecating that function but I want to emphasize that even
with using the deprecated function, every edit would trigger a render twice
(three times if you count the edit stash). The xhgui link in the task
description is for when it was using
