Re: [Wikimediaindia-l] Wikimania tour of Rahul Desmukh

2018-08-13 Thread Asaf Bartov
Perhaps also helpful would be to hear some response from Mr. Deshmukh
himself.

Rahul, I think the concerns raised here at least merit your attention, and
it's been two weeks. I encourage you to show up and discuss the concerns --
ideally, with a forthright description of what did and didn't happen around
your travel to Wikimania, and with a forward-looking perspective of what
might change to prevent such concerns in the future.

Thank you.

Re: [Wikimediaindia-l] Recruiting Community Advocate for Punjabi Wikimedians

2018-08-13 Thread balaji
Hi,
Thanks for letting us know the information happening in Punjabi
community. One of the common problem while scanning many books is that some
pages may be missed while scanning. Or even sometimes the printed books
itself might have some missing pages. Such books are not useful in
wikisource and it would drain away lot of precious volunteer time. Imagine
a situation while after proofreading a hundred page then it is discovered a
page is missing in between :( So kindly evolve a mechanism to crosscheck
pages, pagenumbers, total scan count etc. If the community is already aware
of this issue then kudos and all the best.

[Wikimediaindia-l] Recruiting Community Advocate for Punjabi Wikimedians

2018-08-13 Thread Satdeep Gill
Hello everyone,

I wanted to share with you that Punjabi Wikimedians is going to work with
CIS-A2K for the next one year with Punjabi Wikisource being the Focused
Project Area. We invited community members interested in digitizing and
Wikisource to apply for the post of Community Advocate.

After one month, we have only received one application and now we are going
to assign a task to the person. The task will be to visit our partner
organization in Ludhiana and to digitize (scanning and post processing) two
different works to be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. Scanning quality will
be accessed by a Wikisourcer from the wider Indic Community. The person
will also be writing a report regarding challenges and learnings from the
activity.

Any kind of feedback is welcome.

Regards
Satdeep Gill
