Hi Noopur,

Thanks for responding.

I run an online technology magazine for a leading tech support firm called
iYogi http://www.iyogi.com/, the magazine is called
wwwireframehttp://www.wwwireframe.com/ (which
is also currently undergoing a rebranding and redesign to offer a much
better responsive UI to readers).

In the eight months since the project has been in existence -- we've done
over 500 pages of original content spread across topics such as technology,
business, social media, science, startups, green technology and nonprofits.
What are the benchmarks for eligibility? I wouldn't like to face a
situation where I create a page only to see it deleted by an editor.

As I found out, the IP range of the parent organization, iYogi, has been
banned by a Wikipedia editor. I don't know why that is, maybe the page they
created was badly done or perhaps it was a total sales pitch with no value.

Now that I've shared some history with you.

(1) My first priority is to create a page for my magazine (wwwireframe),
how do I do it?

(2) If possible, I'd like to look into the possibility of reviving the
iYogi page -- do it well this time. It's actually quite a trusted company
with its investors (Sequoia being one of them) and customers (majority from
US) with global competitors like Geek Squad.

Sorry for the long-ish email, tried to keep it short. Would really
appreciate your opinion on this.

Warm Regards
VJ

The IP address may have been range blocked due to vandalism or similar
reasons. You can ask for the IP address and we can check if it is blocked
.

When people ask me to create Wikipedia profile page for non-notable

I generally just pass these links to them

Let's see, first, there is WP:COI, conflict of interest, since this person
is promoting his own magazine or one he works for, editing a page about his
magazine or company is strongly discouraged. Of course that won't deter
him, I suppose IP range of parent organization is the IP address or the
username he chose to edit with. IP bans by local admins usually don't last
longer than 24 hours, unless he's lucky enough to be caught in range block
from a steward, which is unlikely. The simplest solution is creating an
account, and then editing with it, not using IP address to edit.

The IYogi page is here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IYogi , I'm not sure
what he means by reviving it, he can edit it as much as he wants.

This sounds like a common marketing query, tell him to read the help
section or ask in the help channel on IRC. #wikipedia-en-help

The story of a former Indian bureaucrat of En.wiki (also creator/major
contributor of scores of India related FA articles) is well known.

The lucrative offers to get paid for creating Wikipedia pages ( or even
whitewashing negative contents) is something we as Wikipedians should be
watchful for.

But good faith requests on removing BLP ( Biographies of Living Persons)
violations, without references from reliable sources, can be sometimes
entertained on case by case basis.
