[WISPA] EHS Guy wire pricing

2011-10-02 Thread Dorn Hetzel
Do the following seem like reasonable prices per foot for EHS guy wire? I will probably need around 3500 feet or so. 7/16 $0.71/ft 1/2 $0.95/ft Regards, -Dorn WISPA Wants You! Join today!

Why so large? If I recall correctly, we used to use 3/16 EHS on towers up to 100 ft or so. Unless you're putting up a 1000-ft tower, 7/16 or 1/2 seems like overkill, not to mention it will be more difficult to work with. jack

The tower is only 180 ft, but it has a 46 face, so I have been advised that 3/8 is probably not enough and that I should plan to use 1/2 for the regular guys and 7/16 for the double guys to the torque arm. Thoughts? On Oct 2, 2011 12:11 PM, Jack Unger jun...@ask-wi.com wrote:

Depends on the wind loading on the structure. 1/2 is probably overkill unless you are mounting 6'+ dishes. -B- On 10/2/2011 1:28 PM, Dorn Hetzel wrote: The tower is only 180 ft, but it has a 46 face, so I have been advised that 3/8 is probably not enough and that I should plan to use

Considering each 20' section weighs 1400lbs I don't think it is too much. ( I think this is according to his previous email ) Regards, Chuck On Sun, Oct 2, 2011 at 12:11 PM, Jack Unger jun...@ask-wi.com wrote: Why so large? If I recall correctly, we used to use 3/16 EHS on towers up to 100

Yes, 1400 lbs is the reported weight per section, though it's not here yet, so I can't say for sure. I do plan to weigh the sections when they do arrive by weighing my trailer empty and then running down to the corner truck stop to weight it with a section loaded... I don't know what all I will
