[WISPA] WR 900 question

2007-08-25 Thread chris cooper

We have a WR 900 MHz cell that saw a sudden 10 db jump in noise.
Running spec ans from other towers doesn't show this rise in noise in
the same band. Doing sweeps from the tower using another device, albeit
600' lower than the affected ap, we still don't see the noise floor
rise, even when we run a scan pointed straight at the ap. I know we
cant exactly mirror conditions at the ap from a lower altitude, but
shouldn't we see some of the noise that it is reporting? Im wondering
if we have a bad piece of gear up there...
CPE units seem to be receiving signal as normal, but ap side is having
trouble hearing them. Could wet connectors cause behavior - we had
torrential rain followed by high heat.

Thanks
Chris

[WISPA] Re: 5 mhz Bandwidth Rules for LGOAGN

2007-08-25 Thread John Scrivner
When you use 5 MHz channels it is always G mode. I am sorry that was not
clear to you. I was hoping you would see if the Tranzeo client radio
would associate to the LGO2AGN when it is in AP mode. Does that make
sense? Maybe we need to set some time to work together on this. If the
LGO2AGN as AP and Tranzeo as a client combo is incapable of working then
we can look at buying a Tranzeo AP to test this.

The only 'Shaping' of broadcast in 802.11 is in A or G modes on LGO2AGN.

Tranzeo (Radios we have anyway) will not switch to an AP mode. They are only
client bridge or rtr.

Looks as if the plan we had discussed John, will not be doable with this gear.

Re: [WISPA] Leasing 2.3 or 2.5 GHz Licensed Spectrum

2007-08-25 Thread Jon Langeler

Here's some examples of why someone might want to sell their license:
undesirable lease agreement with license holder
risk of roaming alienation from larger national carriers after deployment
potential of competitive disadvantage in a given market (eg. competition
offers national coverage)

reconsideration of long-term financial risk
recieved an offer that could not be refused
better ROI using UL bands (anything is possible) etc.

Not yet, haven't looked into it but will have to do that one of these days!
Thanks
-Jon

Why would you sell away your chance to sell on a licensed platform? I

Why take it to the member list? I guess I won't be inclined to share

sold to clearwire ;-)
