Re: [WISPA] APC Surge Components

2011-09-15 Thread Scott Reed
They must have bought all the units from APC when the did the EOL.
There is no doubt that is the same unit with a DIN mount added. That is
exactly what I am looking for.

Thanks Patrick and Josh.

I use APC FRM4 chassis with PNETR5 modules for Cat5e surge suppression.
I think APC has discontinued these.
Does anyone know where I might get some of these?
What makes a good, fairly low-cost, compact unit for use in tower
cabinets?

Guess I could have answered Josh's question in my last email. I'll
arrive Saturday afternoon, go home following Friday. I'll be ready for
my own bed since I'm going on vacation Sept 24th to Oct. 3, home three
days then off to this.

[WISPA] UBNT to Mikrotik Connection

2011-09-15 Thread Eric Rogers
We are changing out some Mikrotik Backhauls to UBNT M5 rockets and want
to replace one end at a time. We have successfully linked an M5 to a
Mikrotik AP using A/N 10 MHz channel width, but I am only getting
24M/65M tx/rx negotiated links. Signal is -45.

Isn't 24M negotiation A only? Has anyone successfully linked MT to
UBNT? Maybe it is in one of my settings on the MT.

Thanks,

The Tycon midspan injectors work fine. Here's a link to a 16-port one:
http://www.rowewireless.com/products/Tycon-16-Port-1U-Rack-Mount-Mid-Span-POE.html

I've only used the 12-port versions, but I'm sure the 16-port is just as good.

U can try something like this...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1U-Rack-Mount-Passive-Power-Inserter-POE-16-Port-/150645886056?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0hash=item231331cc68#ht_500wt_1314

Ourselves, for something with that many ports, etc we would opt for
a standard 802.3af POE switch, and use the Ubiquity 802.3af to passive
POE converters.

Allows for more granular management, remote power reboot, traffic
management etc etc.
