Fw: [WISPA] Ethernet over Power -- EOP

2006-05-18 Thread Larry Yunker

I'd avoid EOP like the plague.  We wasted
quite a few hours trying to deploy some Speedstream units.  There are just
too many unknowns in an electrical system.  You find multiple phases, you
find circuit isolators, you find multiple main feeds, you find compressors and
large electrical motors.  Any of these things can cause EOP (poor man's
BPL) to fail.

Now as an alternative, I'd suggest looking into
making the cable plant into one big antenna.  Pump WiFi through the
building.I've never tried one of these, but if you have access to the MTU
cable system, this looks interesting:
http://www.smarthome.com/6404HK.html

I know that Teletronics was selling something
similar a few years ago but it seems to have vanished from their web
site.

RE: [WISPA] SR9 performance

2006-05-18 Thread danlist

Here is the deal w/ the SR9

The DSP filter can listen on a 20mhz or
10mhz channel (RX), it can TX at 5mhz, 10mhz or 20mhz

The newer atheros chipsets can listen on a
5mhz channel, but the chipset doesn’t have as good sensitivity as the 5213
chipset

Go buy one of each and let us know. Where's your adventurous WISP spirit? :)

Since the SR5 is just an Atheros chip with crazy high transmit power, I
can't imagine why it wouldn't work, but I haven't played with 'em to
know for sure.

[WISPA] VoIP - Passing CLI

2006-05-18 Thread Paul Hendry

Ola,

We are
looking for VoIP providers who offer PSTN termination in various countries so
we can make the best use of LCR. The only problem I have come across so far is
that not all providers will pass the CLI that we generate. Does anyone have a
list of VoIP providers who do PSTN termination and will also pass a UK CLI (as
we are based in the UK)
?

Cheers,

P.
