saying that some day illegal vendors may be legal? And you point is
what? That I'll go, "Oh no! Now they're legal, what shall I do?" Well
good for them; I'll welcome them into the business. And then we can

Last account I had was that FHSS had 75 channels and I could have sworn last
time I looked we still had 3 non over lapping channels in 802.11b DSSS.

I haven't given much thought to that as these radios are on the roof and
pretty well insulated from the inner offices. If the 5.8 phones are causing
issues with a link less than 100yrds apart, I need to just start pulling
fiber :-) Like you, I have seen that issue with 2.4 systems before.

Jack,
Of course the throughput on 4 cards is not 4 times the throughput on a
single card. The processors cannot handle that at this time. It
needs more than a 533 to drive 4 Atheros cards to full throughput and
then you have the limitation that most units today are only using 100
mbps Ethernet.
Have you considered the possibility of a 5.8 GHz cordless phone in the area?
I know we have seen this issue in the 2.4 GHz range when someone nearby
would get on the cordless handset.

OK, changing from H to V polarity didn't seem to work. We just had another
drop that lasted about 2 minutes. I just sent one of our engineers to a

Lonnie,
Just so I understand your information more completely...
What is the definition of "no great issues". Does this mean that when
all four radios in one box were tested running at full throughput the
aggregate throughput was equal to four times the maximum throughput of
one radio running
Standard Wifi has 3 channels that do not overlap. X4 cloaking has 6
channels that do not overlap and X4 cloaking has 11 channels that do
not overlap.
We use 4 WLM-54G radios in a WAR4 and have seen no great issues unless
two active radios are on the same channel. I am not sure about 6 but

I'd recommend against that idea Matt. ALL devices leak some energy. And
the amount of interference you'll create for yourself at inches vs. feet is
amazing. If you can keep things 3 feet apart there is much less energy,

Interesting... So it is not a good practice in general to shoot across a
flat roof without some height on the radio. In looking at the integrated
antennal specs, It seemed like I had the clearance but with the power of the
radio (being so close), maybe this increases the chance for multi-path?

We had a similar thing happen to us- our SNR was great, but every so
often it would just crash. It was on a flat roof, sled mount that held
the radio @ 24" off the roof. After trying everything, we raised the
mount up to @ 4ft and it solved the problem.
