Re: [WISPA] Backup Generator

I would make sure the one you buy is liquid cooled... some of the
cheaper ones are air cooled and the time when you need the generator
will be when it's 110F outside.

Any suggestions on model, size, or any other info would be greatly

[WISPA] Friday Gripe - FCC .16e Certs and Baloney

2007-07-27 Thread Patrick Leary
So I have a little vent today and forgive me if it does not deal with
unlicensed (after all, nothing limits this list to UL only). I have just
read another article saying that the current WiMAX market only
encompasses 802.16d products by legacy companies like Alvarion and that
the real market does not happen until the 802.16e equipment becomes
available and then it went on to list the major TEMs expected to deliver
802.16e gear. My beef is that we have been selling 802.16e compliant
BreezeMAX WiMAX systems for over six months. There is "talk," then there
is "walk." A set of searches of all major suppliers, plus our smaller
competitors reveals that only Navini has any 802.16e gear to the point
where it can be certified by the FCC as authorized original equipment.
So two companies here are delivering and walking the walk, the rest is
just vapor and noise. Our list of authorized WCS and BRS/EBS band
802.16e TDD BreezeMAX is below, available via the excellent database
search at https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/GenericSearch.cfm.

In this business, always remember, you can count on precious few in the
press to get even simple details correct, even when the data is readily
available. By the way, one you can always not only for getting the facts
right, but for having good insight is www.stevestroh.com, who so many of
you already know and respect.

RE: [WISPA] Streaming Video

2007-07-27 Thread Ralph
You will definitely need to use a streaming service of some sort.
You will kill your network with trying to stream it to all viewers from
onsite.

With my streams, I get about 4-5 30 frame/sec full motion camera streams per
1 Mb of uplink bandwidth.

I would think we would use 3 cameras. It is for High School Band
competitions on football fields or tracks. So, they need to be
controllable or manned.
We will be wireless from the school to the nearest AP and then it
depends are where it is, how it gets back to the server.

Re: [WISPA] Streaming Video

2007-07-27 Thread Scott Reed
Since I am figuring $5,00 to $10.00 per customer the Abacast may be a
little out of the price range. This is for some High School band events,
so there isn't going to be a lot of $$$.

Can the Slingbox send the feed to a server that then let's the customers
connect to the server?

Ralph wrote:

He said he wants to stream and charge for access.
To do that, he will need more than a slingbox!
The worst thing he can do is try to stream to an unknown number of users
over a pipe that’s too small.

That's why I use Abacast. I pay for each input stream and they stream to an
unlimited number of subscribers for that price.
It isn't but 250-300 bucks per stream. That’s cheap considering all that
they do and that they handle billing and DRM for the customers too.

Believe it or not, the best buy may be to use a Slingbox. Just use an
off-the shelf switcher, several DV video cameras and output the switcher
video/audio to the Slingbox and send it to any computer in the world.

Does anyone here have a list of the equipment to do streaming video? I
may have an opportunity to setup some cameras for a local event and
stream it to the web. We will want to be able to charge for access and
to archive the feeds. Any suggestions?

I would think we would use 3 cameras. It is for High School Band
competitions on football fields or tracks. So, they need to be
controllable or manned.
We will be wireless from the school to the nearest AP and then it
depends are where it is, how it gets back to the server.

They are very good people. Also you could rent a hosted Trixbox and connect it
to a reputable wholesaler like Junction Networks among others.

Need a very quick solution to a very aggrivating problem. BellSouth and Us
have been arguing for months over excess charges on our bill from when we
had T1 services through them. Apparently this morning, they have decided to
shut off our phone lines into our office. *There way of making us
pay for stuff we do not owe them for *

I am needing an almost overnite VoIP / Virtual Office type setup from
someone who has reasonable pricing and a damn good service. If you are going
to call and expect us to pay more then $100.00/mo for a 1-800 # type setup
with 3 extensions. Don't bother...

If anyone has any solutions they would like us to take a look at , we will
be making a decision today by noon.
