Hi,

I am not sure why you keep sending me these type of emails. Having
worked with over 50 leasing companies during the last 10 years (over
$2,000,000 worth)... I can honestly say Benchmark is the worst company
we have ever dealt with.

At the beginning of our current lease with you, you took money out of
our checking account for insurance coverage, when you knew we had our
own insurance coverage. We were never contacted (by email, phone or fax)
to request any information, you simply removed the money from our
account for your own policy.

Now, recently, you removed $35.97 from our checking account without
authorization. We do not allow ACH from our business checking account,
and yet somehow you managed to take the money from our account. We left
several voicemails on your main phone number, all with no response.

I am sending a copy of this email to every person that I know in my
industry, just to make sure none of them ever contact your company for
any leasing services. I hope the $35.97 was worth your reputation in the
Internet Services industry.

I've been working on a consolidated map of the fiber available around
the country and was thinking about who would have infrastructure that would
be worth showing. As I was thinking it occurred to me that back in the day
fiber did not exist, Ma Bell did everything on microwave. So I dug around
the internet and found some interesting old maps. One is the old ATT long
lines microwave network and the other is the old Western Union network.
If a few WISP's wanted to get together and start rebuilding these paths
from their areas back to a big city, the towers are mostly still in place
and some of them still have the dishes. We know the paths exist (many of
them were 6 GHz) and they are well documented for the original designs on
the net. American Tower owns many of the olds sites now so it should be easy
to lease the space. The paths all terminate in major telecom hubs so it
should be easy to get bandwidth.
Just thought I would put these out there as food for thought for the
WISP's who are trying to get a lot of bandwidth cheap in rural markets.
Maybe these old networks pass through your area.. Have fun!

Thank You,
Brian Webster

First, it is costing us $90,000 for equipment and installation.
Second, they just had installed a brand new telephone/intercom system-non

Third, I am told the PoE capability is for the 'future'

Easy really, more and more locations including schools are using VoIP

Remote AP's for the in school wifi. There are a bunch of advantages as
far as flexibility and management, but for the most part, not always
needed, but hey, it's just your tax money paying for it after
allhaha.

They are probably saying it's going to cost 50K to cover up other items
they are buying, your right, it shouldn't be that much. Keep in mind,
when they buy these units, they also list the retail price for the
equipment instead of what they actually pay for it most of the time.

Can someone explain why a school would want to pay $1900@ for 25 48-port

10/100/1000 switches with PoE capability for a possible future need
versus
$500-600 for a plain 48-port 10/100/1000 switch? No one that I can find

Second question, replacing 48 24-port 10/100 switches with the above

imagine how it would take even 2 days to do, let alone any tests that

[WISPA] School Telephone System

2008-03-04 Thread WWS2
Is anyone interested in bidding on a new intercom/telephone system for our
local high school? I can not as I am on the School Board.

Approximately 250 extensions, can be VOIP but fyi our local exchange is not
covered by anyone unfortunately [they cover 973-293 and 973-948 but not the
very much larger 973-875] so somehow the main numbers must be kept and if you
use VOIP will have to do some kind of forwarding. Voicemail, etc must be
included. If not offering VOIP with each extension a separate number, I
believe
the capability must be there for the future. [FYI-currently there are 3 T-1
lines into the building]

FYI-I have been told it is in 'range' of Near You Network's wireless
service, otherwise it is Embarq territory.

Please contact me off list if you are interested and I can give you more
information and contacts.

Depending upon how 'top' you need it to be, either buy a HP on sale or call
your local High School and get one of the computer students to give you an
online shopping list of parts and put it together.

I agree with the learning and not going backwardsInstall Linux

Maybe if apple or linux had hundreds of thousands of programs written for

But when it is barely into the hundreds, it is easy to have it work so

[WISPA] NWR:rules for building your own computer

2007-03-13 Thread WWS2
Does anyone know what the rules/hoops to get FCC approval to build your own
computers? I am on our local High School Board and prices we are getting for
200 computers is a lot higher than the parts to build them and the committee
discussed doing it in house. We think it is a simple form listing all the
parts, but do not know for sure. Any help/information would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Right-a real salesman. I have helped several members with my contacts
without receiving a cent.

It is okay when you all wanted last year and not only did I give
twice, I emailed about 100 friends and some of them did too. So I was down
in the area and thought that if any of the WISPA members were around, it would
be nice to meet them.

I will remember that for next time.

[WISPA] Wire Line Local Service Question

2006-03-26 Thread WWS2

I keep hearing that you do NOT have to pay and have 'Interstate Access' on
your local lines, that you can just have local service. Sprint is charging
me $15.99 a monthand I never have toll charges-basically just have DSL and
another inbound line for work. [And no, Rick cant service me
wirelessly] Sprint says it is mandatory but I never believe what they
say.

Any one know for a fact what the real answer is?

[WISPA] G4 TV's Call For Help

2005-11-30 Thread WWS2

This is a great show but today Leo made an error and I think someone from
WISPA should contact them and tell them about WISP's.

There was a caller today from Canada who was moving to where there was no
DSL or Cable, and asked about Satellite ISP. Leo talked about that and
then mentioned new options WiMax and BPL. At no time did he mention
WISP. I did email Amanda [his assistant]and the show about WISP and
gave them the www.wispa.org address, but also
thought one of our leaders could contact them and update them on what we
are.
