Trying to connect remote networks into one. I'll probably end up doing just
that, stick a MT at the head end of the remote network. Would have
additional benefits anyhow, I guess. No matter how I slice it, Mikrotik
always seems to be involved. :)

If you need something done on a network level..expect MT can do it.

My CPE template contains:

/interface pppoe-client
add ac-name= add-default-route=yes allow=pap,chap,mschap1,mschap2
comment=\
 dial-on-demand=no disabled=no interface=wlan1 max-mru=1480 max-mtu=\
1480 mrru=disabled name=pppoe-out1 profile=default \
service-name= use-peer-dns=yes

Then you just change the user= and password= to suit.

When I helped someone over the phone I just had them click add and specify
the user/password so I'm pretty sure all of those are default values.

If you need something done on a network level..expect MT can do it.

 My CPE template contains:

 /interface pppoe-client
 add ac-name= add-default-route=yes allow=pap,chap,mschap1,mschap2
 comment=\
  dial-on-demand=no disabled=no interface=wlan1 max-mru=1480 max-mtu=\
 1480 mrru=disabled name=pppoe-out1 profile=default \
 service-name= use-peer-dns=yes

Then you just change the user= and password= to suit.

When I helped someone over the phone I just had them click add and specify
the user/password so I'm pretty sure all of those are default values.

A 750 is the same price point as a Linksys/Dlink/Netgear router, but lacks
wireless. If it had wireless many sales would be made.

I don't deal much with the customers' routers. Mostly it's reboot it, try
again, ok bye.

I have one friend that needed a wired router at home in Kansas and need

I do the same but sadly the magic reboot seems to help in most cases. And
I agree, if it had wireless I'd buy bunches but they still look to be handy
at the price for wired small business networks.

A 750 is the same price point as a Linksys/Dlink/Netgear router, but lacks
wireless. If it had wireless many sales would be made.

I don't deal much with the customers' routers. Mostly it's reboot it, try
again, ok bye.

Re: [WISPA] EiOP

2009-12-16 Thread Robert West
Yeah, been down that route. Official answer from UBNT is no EoIP, no VPN,
etc. Seems likes an odd thing to be leaving out. Only logical advice was
to flash with third party firmware but if that was the only option I'd
rather just put in a 411ah or 433 MT board. But then I'd have to turn off
AirMax to anything talking to it unless I'm direct wired which I guess I
could do. Then hopefully the UBNT devices will pass the protocol along with
the port.? My guess would be it won't. The ease of use that
the UBNT has sure limits things. Would be nice if they had a Simple mode
for the quick config and install and an Advanced mode for a lot of what
the Mikrotik can do.
