RE: [WISPA] satellite imaging company?

2005-10-05 Thread Rick Harnish
Hmmm, Indiana on Google Earth is July 2003 imagery. I think it is pretty
nice. Our pictures were taken within a week of our 100 year flood. I guess
it takes a weather disaster to get new pictures. Want me to order one for
you George? ;)

I downloaded the free version of google earth and then updated to the
pro trial version.

  Microsofts terraserver had better pictures.

Problem is the latest image is 1994, lots has changed around here in 10
years. All I'm trying to do is current version. But I can't spend alot
for this.

2005-10-05 Thread Tim Kerns

George,

Google's Good Earth, with the plus ($28 a year, I think) you can do path,
line etc. Sometimes the pics are 2-3 yrs old, but most of my area is less
than a year. It has enough detail for me... I can see my horses (be it
shadows) on my ranch.

I was hoping to find affordable current image of my area with
Latitude/Longitude.

George,
What area do you need. If this company has to fly the area to get the
images that price is good. Are you looking for color or b&w, at what
resolution and for what purpose. I know of quite a few different sources
but

it depends on what you are looking for.

Anyone have experience with buying imagery for your area from a
satellite imaging company?

I got a quote from one company, but there price at about $48.00 per
square kilometers at minimum 192 square kilometers. They don't have
current pictures of our area archived.

I'm looking for other options and prices.

My local county government is making it available free. Only our county, but check out http://www.co.wayne.in.us/gis/index.html

Maybe you can find something similar for your area.
