Our facilities planning and space management group generate floorplans off cad
files provided by the architect or from a survey conducted by their own staff.
As a building is renovated they update the files and put the newer versions of
the files on the building information portal.

What you seem to be describing is an attendance system which is probably better
managed by a BLE beacon system.
While some vendors sell AP models or AP add-ons specifically for client service
AND RTLS they aren't made for tracking whether a client is in a room vs just
outside.
We had a group
The bandwidth needed for streaming on a phone or tablet is about 2Mbps.
I would suggest these are going to have an impact similar to any normal client
streaming continuously. That would have to be verified.
So whether that is an acceptable impact is up to you. How many are there? What
have you
I haven’t independently verified all of these of course but it’s interesting
documentation.

Where I’ve been able to test with a client of a given model this has been
accurate.
I don’t feel client compatibility is a major concern when considering enabling

The first suggestion that comes to mind is to watch your corners to insure they
are filled out and don't have "corner office syndrome". Standing in the corner
of the corner cubical you should see your 5GHz in the negative upper 60's in
dBm. People debate that but -65 to -62 is should get you
On a somewhat related note if you’re running WiFi Analyzer (the popular Android
App, not the Fluke product) on your phone or tablet it also makes a lot of
noise and could falsely give you the impression an environment is a lot noisier
than it is. It can be very helpful, just be aware if it’s
Is it your phone or a tablet you carry? If you’re seeing it everywhere you go
it’s possible you’re carrying it along with you.
Set any devices (including the laptop you’re running Chanalyzer on) to airplane
mode.
Keep us posted.

I forget the specific area but one of our consultants mentioned APs being
concealed in ornamental cast iron lamps (I’m sure they also lit the area some)
at a phenomenal cost per unit. They spare little expense to keep things out of
sight.

Any survey that’s just a few text fields is bound to only provide anecdotal
evidence. You cannot find a percent or average based on text fields which makes
them minimally useful.
It would be great to have a wireless report function in one of our campus info
apps to collect actual information
We’ve considered things like taping a layer of felt over antennas where they’re
installed on/in jumbotrons where the support framing is painted matte black.
This has the benefit of being easily removed later or quickly put on while the
APs are installed. For instance if they are installed it
We’ve still got some injectors. We stock PowerDsine 9001G’s because they
support at power.
One issue with using these vs. a PDU is that they can’t be remotely powered off
if an AP needs to be power cycled.
We’ve had some instances where an injector seemed to go bad such as an AP
repeatedly
Had you considered an AP with an integrated antenna?
An Aruba AP277, for instance, is directional and outdoor rated so all you need
to get to it is your network cable. There are other models available from other
vendors, obviously.
Also as I see it you can install the base of the stand flat on
