Hello,
I have a question for other Universities who are using Meru wireless
802.11n networks. We are in the process of doing a Proof of Concept on
Meru's technology of single cell architecture. We ran into a few issues
and I was wondering how other universities are dealing with these kind
of
Richard,
We are a much smaller school (3000), but we run Meru 802.11n in most of
our academic buildings and Meru a/b/g in all our dorms.
We've had some driver issues, but not many. I do know that RealTek
cards don't work well with Meru unless you set Connect even if the
network is not
We have more users but I still concur with Richard in both comments regarding
drivers in general and the RealTek cards.

Richard,
We have almost 900 Meru APs deployed and service a population of about 30,000
students. We do hear from people now and then about this issue and upgrading
drivers is our first suggestion.

Richard,
We have a campus-wide Meru 802.11n wireless network in place with 802.1x as
part of the picture. Our experience matches yours. I have believed it was
our combination of WPA2-Enterprise and 802.1x that accounted for the
inability of older drivers to work with our implementation. We do run
We are currently expanding our wireless network and by fall semester we will
have around 2100 AP's. We have both AP 208's and AP 300's.
We have been very happy with the single channel architecture, but have had the
same driver issues mentioned by others. Again most issues are easily resolved
We have around 220 aps running on the residence network since January and I'm
happy with the solution so far. We only have one or two issues with Realtek
RTL8188SU which can be fixed by turning on connect even if network is not
broadcasting. I've not seen any Intel problem yet.

We are not a Meru shop, but have similar driver-related issues on secure
networks. It is my conjecture that this is a way of life on secure networks
where you have a wide range of client device types and driver vintages.
Frustratingly, MacBooks and iPhones tend to be among the most frustrating
