Re: [WISPA] Out with the old, in with the new
Hiya Charles, Yes, it's line of site. The "transponder" is hanging on the end of the dish. It's a Trango Fox 5800d. Range was about 6, maybe 7 miles. Receive signal was -68 to -70. I'd not suggest a system quite this fancy for the average residential local. It's overkill and expensive. It fit here because there are so many people off the phone grid. chow, Marlon (509) 982-2181 Equipment sales (408) 907-6910 (Vonage)Consulting services 42846865 (icq)And I run my own wisp! 64.146.146.12 (net meeting) www.odessaoffice.com/wireless www.odessaoffice.com/marlon/cam - Original Message - From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "WISPA General List" Cc: Sent: Friday, January 13, 2006 10:34 AM Subject: Re: [WISPA] Out with the old, in with the new Ok. I'm definitely new to this. Is this a "line of site" installation. If so, what distance are you covering? I am assuming that the small dish is the new one. what type of transponder is connected to it. I want to setup a system in our rural area. The Trango system was giving this customer 1400/1400 kbps (not bad for a t-1 feed to the wpop!!!). The old sat system via a test to the same test site gave us 400/60 kbps.
