Yes, small world - I grad'd from Pacifica in '78! As you know, we played out football games at GGHS. Surfin Huntington was my 2nd favorite sport behind dirt biking in the desert. I've never been up to Oregon but when I do, Ill look you up. Of course, Rickeesha may beat me there :) On Sat, May 22, 2010 at 12:02 PM, Mark Nash markl...@uwol.net wrote: I grad'd from GG high school... small world. I used to spend 12-15 hours a day playing this. I think I wore out several Atari 2600 joysticks. I am not a gamer as my fast twitch muscles were not fast enough for games faster than Pacman. My wife was not aware of this past history and foolishly challenged me to a Mrs Pacman table-top game at a bar one night. She played her turn... and then I played mine for ~2.5 hours. I had a crowd around me. Her jaw was on the floor, she just muttered what she thinks is an insult: I married such a nerd. :) ryan On Fri, May 21, 2010 at 8:24 AM, Jack Unger jun...@ask-wi.com wrote: But dd... My son and I ate at a pizza place a few months ago that still had the Galaga game from when I was in high school. He wanted to play, so I let him run the shooter while I ran the joystick. About 45 minutes later, we had the high score, and the next day I get a text message from one of my high school friends asking if I beat his high score on the Galaga machine at Godfather's Pizza, cuz he saw the same initials that I used back in the day. I hate to admit it but I have some hidden in the garage. You can pick them up fairly cheap if they aren't restored. I've gotten most for under 300 bucks. It's a sad, sad secret that I hide. Re: [WISPA] Google Pac Man
According to Maxim, which us single guys still get to read :) women like nerds more, good women anyway. Its no insult at all, I spent the same amount of time on those games in my youth and Matt's Galaga is my fav, maybe we can have the St. Louis WISP dig one up for the hotel at our upcoming Regional Meeting. Oddly once I owned an ISP I didn't seem to want to play games anymore, the sad off-shoot of being on the computer too much but have no fear the closet gamer is in all of us or it's doubtful we'd love this business so much. Go get some nerdy glasses and see if your wife likes role playing, lol, happy Friday! Forbes On 5/21/2010 8:58 AM, Robert West wrote: That's a moment that any man can be proud of. LOL! They have a version of the arcade joy stick and button board to plug into the computer if you are using MAME or other arcade emulators. I purchased one for the wife a couple of years back so she could play some god awful game called Elevator Action on her laptop. Game sucks but the X-Arcade deal is pretty sweet. -Original Message- From: wireless-boun...@wispa.org [mailto:wireless-boun...@wispa.org] On Behalf Of David E. Re: [WISPA] Google Pac Man
What is funny is that google can run that game in a simple web page...back in 1980 I used to think you needed super computers to run games like pacman! I don't know what it is about those games, but in some ways they seem just more fun to play...maybe because of the simplistiy of the games and concepts. I'm not a big gamer now a days, but I find the FPS games to get boring after awhile. On 05/21/2010 01:19 PM, RickG wrote: Pacman, Excitebike, Galaga, MechWarrior, taking me back! Go down to the beaches now or the parks or the local swimming pools. Not many there. I've tried to get my brats to do active things. Right! One of the boys sprained his shoulder 2 days ago at school. Gym class, was throwing footballs. I honestly think it's the first time he ever strained a muscle other than his thumbs or mouse clicking index finger. So he's all whining about it. I told him it's about time he got a real injury! Shesh! Kids. At his age, 13, I already had dog bites, one snake bite, a broken wrist, scars, etc. Electronics suck! -Original Message- From: wireless-boun...@wispa.org [mailto:wireless-boun...@wispa.org] On Behalf Of Mark Nash - Lists Sent: Friday, May 21, 2010 1:51 PM To: WISPA General List Subject: Re: [WISPA] Google Pac Man Yeesh back in '79 the coolest things I had access to were my baseball glove and my trombone cuz I was in JUNIOR HIGH!!! Re: [WISPA] Google Pac Man
A rite of passage at my house as a lad was to hang from the sill of the second story window on the side of the garage and drop. The garage had a second story floor with a ladder in a closet leading to what we called the clubhouse. Today, neighbor parents would sue for endangering their kids. I come from a family of seven kids. My mother usually drove a station wagon. I carry images of unbridled children bouncing around and yelling. The smallest always stood next to mom with an arm around her shoulders. Bench seats and NO seat belts graced every family auto. By today's standards, my mom could be charged with child abuse. Sorry for the blatant hijack but this thread began on a whimsical note. The Google Flag is awesome. If you do a Google search you'll understand what prompted this thread. Oh, and the cracked helmet? I was tearing down an overgrown gravel lane at the quarry, hit a rock. flew over the handle bars head first into another VERY large rock. Without the helmet. Well, I'm sure that would have been the last of my days. However I never told my mother she was right and it saved my butt. Still hated the helmet after that but the crack made it cooler. Actually, what made it better was that the bomb hole was full of water from the rare monsoon rains that hit the high desert every so often. No choice but to attempt to jump it. Rear tire didnt make it thereby kicking me off like a bucking bronco. They woke me up on the other side saying that was really radical =0 On Sat, May 22, 2010 at 12:44 AM, Robert West robert.w...@just-micro.com wrote: The bomb hole makes it better! - Original Message - From: RickG rgunder...@gmail.com To: WISPA General List wireless@wispa.org Sent: Friday, May 21, 2010 10:01 PM Subject: Re: [WISPA] Google Pac Man I did that out in the Mojave desert on my 250 after a bomb hole got in my way :) Ended up in the hospital overnight for observation.
