If you don't need to do it on the fly Filemaker is real good at this.

What I mean is if you don't have to take the report parse it and manipulate
it on a moment to moment basses. If you need to periodically get the report
then move it into SQL tables or something like that then Filemaker will do a
good job for you and it is easy to manipulate the data once it is in
Note that if you've been using build 065 of the server, you have, in a
sense, already made the switch, since this version of the server has
been preferring the cookie over the [search|post] ARGs. If your system
is working now (under 065), you should see little, if any, effect by
removing the USR
Jeff,
My experience is in Windows, so this might not fully apply. Also, the
post by Phil is worth its weight...
You should note that LOWERING the THREADPOOLSIZE is generally a good
thing, as Witango (the daemon) needs to do less managing of threads, and
spends more time processing. As you saw,

I highly recommend a product called Monarch whenever you need to extract
data from text files. It makes it quick and easy. Conbine it with data
from other sources as well.

Bonjour Louise!
1- How are the characters being saved to the database? HTML code, or ASCII?
2- What type of database field is it? Character, numeric, etc...
Let me know, and I'll be able to help.

My guess is that you need to use the correct font by enclosing your text in
the [font tag for the font you need.
French does not need special encoding for the page.

The database is FileMaker 5.5 Unlimited served by FileMaker 5.5v2
Both the FileMaker Server and Witango application boxes are Mac OS 10.2
The characters are saved to the database using ASCII codes. They are in a
regular text field.

I have a simple taf set up just to test it. This is the 1st step in

We parse electronic documents all the time here and we use Witango. If your

Hi Louise,
Here's a great resource for HTML accent codes:
http://www.starr.net/is/type/htmlcodes.html
Anyways, the problem with ASCII codes is the @CHAR tag displays different
charactes above number 127 depending on the operating system of the WiTango
server.
The best bet is to use the HTML
That helps a lot. Thanks!

Generalising a little ... Well a lot ...
On a unix system (OS X, Linux, Solaris, etc) the scheduling is done via
process not threads so if you are wanting more CPU time for your application
you should run multiple processes. Each process within its cpu time
It sounds like the Pro app server is the way to go for us. (Was
kinda hoping for a real easy quick improvement.) We'll be sure to
test different mixes of processes and THREADPOOLSIZE.
Otherwise, I think changing our code will yield the biggest benefits
but takes the most time/effort. But
Dan, Witango isn't going to create an entry in the ODBC administration.
There has to be an entry in the ODBC manager and you just set the name
to match it.

Why not do a 302 redirect in the http header?
I am trying to do a meta redirect and trying to pass some arguments
along with it. I keep getting a 403 Permissions Error. I am not
allowed to access / on the server.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or is there a work around for this???
Webdude,
Here is what I often use: meta http-equiv=refresh content=0;URL=download\@SEARCHARG
file
This works great as a redirector. The number is the number of seconds to wait before
refreshing. Zero instantly redirects.
