One distinction is that the administrator has a well-known sid (SID: S-1-5-21domain-500). I don't know if there is a wix way to find that info on an account, but it could be determined in a CA. -- View this message in context:

Anyone understand what is happening in this scenario? I know how to 'fix' the issue, I just want to understand why the fix is needed. I have a 5.0, perMachine, elevated installer. If I'm logged in as the Administrator I can install and later modify (add another feature) without issue.
