RE: [WSG] Issues making compliant code using Joomla! [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

2008-08-20 Thread Chris Vickery
Thanks James. What sort of security flaws did you find? I have been told to
make sure the system is up to date, but not much info on what to look out for.

I know recently there was a big breach where a Viagra company worked out how to
get a bot to insert their branding into page metadata.

I stopped using Joomla! because of security flaws and the whole system is code
bloated and difficult to understand. The documentation is also weak.

I started getting to grips with Symfony, although strictly not a CMS, it offers
alot more power and flexability.

Re: [WSG] Tables for product=>price list

a list could usually be said to be synonymous with a

I think that Michael has hit the nail on the head here -- there is a
blurry line between certain types of lists and tables. One could also
argue that a definition list is a sort of simple table (2 column? tho
DTs can have several definitions).

I would say that the nature of a table implies cross-referencing (ie.
the rows and columns interrelate to provide the correct data), and I
let this be my guide. If the columns and rows *don't* interrelate then
it's just a collection of lists.

Re: [WSG] Is anyone of you deaf?

2008-08-20 Thread Nancy Johnson
I have a mild-to-moderate mid-range hearing loss, so I am very lucky
for I have a great deal of my own hearing left.

I got scammed however by an unscrupulous Hearing Aid Reseller and got
a great deal of support when I joined Hearing Loss Association of
America. http://www.hearingloss.org/. I don't know if they have any
international chapters, but they are an advocacy group for folks with
hearing loss with an active discussion and message boards on a variety
of topics.

I also have a close friend who is blind and is very computer literate.
She is the one who made me aware of how folks with disabilities
struggle to access the web. I began to learn and read then about
webstandards and accessibility and been building sites in that way for
about 8 years.

Could be a genuine mistake guys. I doubt its spam.

I like that building, and how you can click an apartment and get an birds
eye view of it. Did you develop that?

I completed the survey btw.
