I appologize if this is off topic. The validator does not like "float: center;". What is the correct way to center an image? IE6 shows a centered Scottish flag which I would like and Firefox 1.5 does not. [WSG] Page veiwing
I am sorry if this is off topic. I do not know who to ask. I have my screen resolution to default to 800 by 600 and thinking of changeing to 1024 by 768. I still would like to view my web pages in 800 by 600. I really do not have the knowledge to have the screendefault to 1024 by 768 and still veiew web pages in 800 by 600. Actually Only one of my apps requires 1024 by 768. I use EditPlus 2.12 with Windows XP Home SP2. Can anyone help? thank you. As a blind web site designer who has his alt tag reading protion of his screen reading software. I would say their should be both images and a text description. I have come across many fully sighted (20/20 Vision( persons that have difficulty with even the simplest images. I like to provide a link to a page with the image and a full text version. And how about dialup users. Many graphic images can slow a dialup user's access signifcantlly. The PDF file is an article to be posted on a web site. What is the best web standard approach and instructions on what to do (please)? I hate tabbing through a number of links just to get to the main content; so I do not use skip to links. What would be the most accessible way to make these ads more visible? If you are using Apache, you could (in .htaccess or httpd.conf) AddType application/octet-stream .mp3 http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_mime.html#addtype or, if they're all in a directory with nothing else ForceType application/octet-stream http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_mime.html#forcetype Not bullet proof, as some browsers will still try to guess the file type from incoming data and act accordingly... I am very new to all this. I like option one, however, I am not the system adminastrator and I could not modify the httpd file. I do not know if I should send the above to the system administrator of the web host I am using or the modification is on my end. [WSG] Playing a MIDI
I think this is on topic. If not please reply privately. I have a MIDI file that starts playing when a web page loads. I was toying with the idea that the visiter could turn the MIDI file on or off at will. I dumped the idea mainly due to time constraints. I also chose MIDI because WAV and/MP3 would take to long to download. Is this talk about Flash relevant to my situation? So as not to flood the list with OT product endorsements, the list managers have requested that you to answer directly to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with your suggestions and I'll compile a list to post back with all the suggestions in a few days. I do not intend to start an editor debate. I have been asked by the president of the board of an an International Nonprofit that I am associated with and built and maintain a web site for. To put together a list of software and prices that I require. I use a screen reader called JAWS, Windows XP home and hand code with Edit Plus 2.12. I am using the limited FTP capability of Edit Plus and a free FTP program called FTP Explorer. I am managing some how with FTP. I also have Macro Media Contribute 1.0 somewhere. I would need to hunt arround to find it. I would appreciate suggestions for software I would need to maintain and built future web standard webpages. I am not sure if I should create seperate CSS files for my header and footer, embed the CSS into one file with the HTML . or Have the css in my css main file and call the main file. I would like to keep to web standards and a small download for dialup users. Any advice?
