[WSG] Re: WYSIWYG editor

Dreamweaver is like kills ants with a machine gun. This app is excelent to
edit nested tables, but thing like tableless it not so god -- We had using
him practiclly like Homesite to had some markup control.

WYSIWYG editor to XHTML/CSS is unnecessary, I suppose. At last, if among
browser had yours particularities to render XHTML/CSS, a visual editor had
yours particularities too.

XHTML Strict/1.1 had a coerent structure, is simple to edit in your
favorite ASCII editor. And CSS by TopStyle is very productive.

Hm, will they make it more standards compliant as well? Will it work in
older versions of Windows?
Hum, I donĀ“t believe.
Presto (Opera) and Gecko (Mozilla) engines pass a profound redesign of your
engines to assimile web standards. Safari utilizes the KHTML engine,
previously web standard compliant, AFAIK.

The trouble with IE is your engine require a profound redesign to assimile
web standards. But a redesign of your engine can cause conflicts with dozen
applications of Windows what depends actually of MS HTML Viewer.

But, between IE v5 and v5.5 (Windows), has a notable move to adopt web
standard compliance. Not complete, but notable.

If supports PNG with alpha channell, is good enough for me. CSS 2, I
believe so much to wait from IE before Longhorn.

A note: I use MS Windows with the color scheme (video properties) called
Plum. This apply the color #D8D0C8 in the background color of windows,
when this propertie is not applied.

By default, this color is white in the Windows plataforms.

This default value hidden when the web designer forget of apply a
background color, if the choice is white. The plataform coincide in to
apply the same color, and the fault of background color is not detected.

On http://www.section508.gov/508Awareness/html/aw01005.html , for example,
the first line is above on the background image on the top fo page. The
rest, above the background color of body. Without background color
proprertie, the value of background applied is form de operacional sistem
(in my case, #D8D0C8). This can harm the layout and legibility.

The W3C say: Define color AND background-color. So, the legibility is
guaranteed.

Of course the major people uses the Windows with color scheme default. But
the W3C rule above protect the legibility independent of this factor of
local color scheme.

This a survey reveal the commons fonts presents in the plataforms (Mac, Win

Adobe's sites publish years before a list of fonts presents by default on
the various versions of Windows. I think this information off line now. But
I get a copy for me and assemble this:

The propose of float isn't align elements... But positioning elements
around other. Float:center, if exist, is like magazine (paper) with two
columns and a photo among.

To align elements, use text-align. Because HTML basically is text. The
value acceptable is right, left or center.

Impossible.

The target atribute is desprecated. I believe because this atribute works
only in systems windows based. Target window is a extension of this type
of operation system, no a feature of all user-agents.
