designer/developer to define and develop the online face of the
organization (www.au.org). The ideal candidate will have experience
with standards-based markup, accessibility, and research-oriented
user-centered design as well as a strong personal commitment to
church-state separation.


	Primary Responsibilities


	Create
the graphic design of the site including content for legislative
advocacy, online fundraising, online organizing, and news presentationLead web site projects to ensure that projects proceed smoothly and the experience for the users and the staff is positiveOversee projects through the entire life-cycle from proposal to deliveryDevelop and maintain a web site style guide to ensure a coherent brand presentationDevelop and document design processesAnalyze user and organizational needs through user research and profilingResearch and deploy new design techniques and technologiesOversee the web site budget


	Desired Skills


	Standards based X-HTML and CSS are a must.  Experience with DOM scripting, PHP, Ruby, or other languages is a plusExperience managing several projects simultaneously in a fast-paced news-cycle driven environmentExperience
with content-management systems is a must and experience with
non-profit content management systems such as Convio and Democracy in
Action is a plusExperience with information architectureExperience with user research. Knowledge of the mental model and other techniques is a plusExcellent oral and written communication skillsA passion for visual design and creativity is a mustAn interest in photojournalism preferred
