I had a very similar problem with my R8600. I did try to find the
cause but gave up trying a debugging version of Hamlib.
Versions of Hamlib before July 2024 work OK and I don't think there
are any features lost
as far as the R8600 is concerned.

When upgrading to version 2.7.0 I can no longer control my Icom R8600. It was
working with earlier versions (2.6.1).
