Re: [wsjt-devel] WW Digi DX Contest Final Results

2020-10-01 Thread Ed Muns
Thanks Ron.

Don AA5AU was the lead author of the Results Article itself. Randy K5ZD has
been continually improving the searchable web features for all CQ contests and
now WW Digi: Scores Database, Clubs, QSO Rates, Soapbox, etc. Tine S50A
manages the Plaques program and Ken K1EA works continuously enhancing the log
checking software for all these contests. Steve N8BJQ collects world-wide
recordings and reviews things we question. It’s a team effort that takes a lot
more than many people realize!

[wsjt-devel] WSJT-X Ver 2.3

2020-10-01 Thread Jim Schliestett

I have experienced a problem with WSJT-X (64 bit) version 2.3 while
operating FST4 on 630 meters. I never experienced this same problem while
running JT-9 on earlier versions of WSJT.
I'm running Windows 7 on a Dell Optiplex 790. The rig is a Kenwood TS-2000,
homebrew transverter, and an interface that uses TX audio from the computer
to key the radio. Therefore, VOX is selected in the RADIO configuration menu
under SETTINGS. My problem may not be present using DTR or DSR keying.
Everything initially works fine, but after the program has been running for
a while, and then clicking on the TUNE tab, the transmitter keys normally,
but does not want to unkey by clicking on the TUNE tab again. The TX audio
from the computer will stop for several milliseconds but then start again
keeping the transmitter keyed. Clicking on the TUNE tab repeatedly will
eventually stop the tone and unkey the radio. The TUNE tab stays highlighted
in red until the tone quits. Sometimes while clicking on TUNE to unkey the
radio, the TX tone from the computer will generate a second tone or a tone
on a different frequency. This problem seems to get worst the longer the
program runs and how many times you key the radio using the TUNE tab.
Other than that, version 2.3 has run slick as a whistle running FST4. I have
not tried other modes or bands other that 630 meters.

Subject: [wsjt-devel] Tx4 response anomaly

I noticed an anomaly in WSJT-X Version 2.3.0-rc1. I believe that It may have
been reported in earlier versions, but the anomaly still occurs.

Near the end of an FT8 QSO the station being worked sends his Tx4 report of
calls and RR73.

On my end, WSJT-X responds with a Tx5 message of 'Calls and 73'.

However, the other station, not copying my 73, resends his Tx4, RR73 message.
Since my Enable Tx is now off, in order to for me to respond to his Tx4 message
with another Tx5 ‘Calls and 73’ message, I double click on the stations ‘calls
& RR73’ message from him in either the 'Rx Frequency' or 'Band Activity'
columns.

The problem is that instead of me transmitting the proper Tx5 ‘73’ message,
WSJT-X sends a Tx3 message of Calls plus R-report.

Is there any reason why WSJT-X cannot be changed to respond with the proper Tx5
message when the operator double clicks on the received Tx4 message?

Hi Jay,

as the T/R period increases with FST4 and FST4W modes the bandwidth narrows.
The consequence is that the Rx filters in the decoder are closer together
and far more candidate signals per Hertz can be detected. The red background
is a reminder that the analysis bandwidth is unnecessarily wide and may lead
to increased false decodes, and certainly will increase the CPU resource
required to decode. The thresholds vary according to the T/R period
selected.
