This is normal for every computer I’ve had. That’s the error message when the
port goes away (by powering down the K3). Sounds normal. It can’t communicate
with the rig when it is shut down so it gives you an error. I always shut down
the program before unplugging the USB cable to the radio. It runs across my
desk for easy access in case of T-Storm. The program still closes when I tell
it to ignore, but works fine when I plug the USB cable back in and reload the
program. You should be fine as soon as you turn the radio back on and restart
the program. Just don’t shut the rig down without unloading WSJT-X.

[wsjt-devel] wsjt-x Program hung and not responding

2021-05-02 Thread Bill Frantz

wsjt-x hung -- not responding

I had been operating FT8 on 15M and 40M. I powered down my K3
(upgraded with the internal sound card) and got the "Rig Control
Error" message. I think I clicked "Cancel", closed the lid on my
MacBook Pro and took the computer back to my apartment. When I
got there, wsjt-x was still running but not responding. I used
"Force quit" to blow it away and saved the crash report from the
Apple crash reporter.

wsjt-x 2.3.1
MacOS 10.14.6

Since the crash report is huge (27500+ lines) I won't send it to
the list unless someone says I should. :-)

[wsjt-devel] Transmitting partway through a time-slice?

2021-05-02 Thread William Smith
Whenever I double-click on a line in the left-hand window to answer a CQ, or
click "Enable TX", [WSJT-X v2.3.1 0e7224], my radio keys up immediately, even
if I'm most of the way through a 15-second timeslice. While I undertand that
it's OK if the first few seconds of my transmission are missed in this fashion,
I suspect that the last couple of seconds wouldn't be enough to decode anything
useful.

Is there a setting for "don't transmit if the timeslice has already started'?
I was advised last time to not click until just before the beginning of the
timeslice, but that's hard to arrange...

I remember asking about this a while ago and thought it was an acknowledged
misfeature that was going to be Fixed In The Next Release, but it's (still)
there.

Am I going something wrong, or do I have a setting misconfigured?

Thanks!
