So if anyone wants to take a closer look at when it broke again, after "almost" working on Debian, this might help - pick a timestamp where you believe it was working to install a basic Debian system with X2GoServer, then step forward day by day and check which packages got updated. Well, with Fedora 28, KDE is just a back screen, no plasma-theme is available in the repositories and that is what I previously was using. Also previously working, now broken, is gnome. No gnome-flashbck or gnome-session-flashback in the repositories. What is still working is LXQT and Mate. -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Eskimo North Linux Friendly Internet Access, Shell Accounts, and Hosting. Re: [X2Go-User] It might be that we already have KDE5/Plasma support ...
I've been using opensuse 15 with kde 5. I had some problems with the KDE desktop at first, but it seems to work fine now. Occasionally I get a weird issue where firefox won't render anything, just a blank page. I have a bug in with mozilla, but I can't replicate it although it's happened 2 or 3 times, working fine on a local session, but not via x2go until I downgrade. I already reported (back in January 2017) that KDE5/Plasma apps "mostly" work with the stable releases of X2Go when run as single applications. By "mostly" I mean that repainting tends to be very slow. Even applications that draw only text (such as Konsole and KWrite) are far too slow to use comfortably. Even running them over a raw SSH connection is faster! By contrast, GTK+ applications are nice and fast. Another problem with running KDE applications remotely is that many toolbar icons don't get drawn (being replaced with text labels), though this problem isn't unique to X2Go; it also occurs with vanilla SSH. The situation is the same today. At first I got black screen and I thought nope same old same old, but it was just KDE is much slower to start than Mate. Hi $LIST, According to Mike#1, who currently attends DebConf in Montreal, Debian 9 + X2Go Stable + KDE5/Plasma have been shown to work together. This is a single report so far, though. If anyone is willing and able to test and confirm this, it would be highly appreciated. Another test result we'd be interested in would be what happens if you use Arctica NX-Libs and X2Go Heuler instead of X2Go Stable.
