The images where on a external USB drive. You may forget/delete this reporting.
I don't know/understand how to enable backtraces.
To complicated. Thanks anyway for your support.

Thanks for the detailed bugreport !

Sorry, I have to say that I will not be able to take a look at it soon ...
already too much other thunar bugs on my personal TODO List :/

If you are motivated / if you want to speed up thing, please take a try
yourself ! Patches are very welcome !

Otherwise it will probably take some time until somebody takes care for this
bug.

Cannot reproduce, does not happen for me, need more information.

Please enable coredumps, so that you can get a backtrace of the crash. Here is
a manual how that can be done:
https://docs.xfce.org/contribute/bugs/start

Are these images located on a local filesystem ?
Can you take a try if it as well happens for thunar 1.8.x ?

Thats a known regression of 1.8.x and as well seems to be still a problem for
thunar 1.6.x

Hope I will have time to look into it soon

[Xfce-bugs] [Bug 15029] Thunar unable to access users home directory

2019-01-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15029

Thanks, I had seen that in my research. We have used several file managers and
this problem only occurs on Thunar.

The way to create it is to have an Ubuntu system with xfce4 installed
Install xrdb and have it running
Using MS Remote Desktop Connection on either a Windows or Mac and use that to
connect to the ubuntu system
Start thunar

and as your home directory is the default, you get the error.

We've had to move from xfce for a number of reasons, not just this one.

Good luck

[Xfce-bugs] [Bug 14998] Thunar spin up sleeping HDD even if all partitions unmounted

2019-01-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14998

The common factor is gvfs, both file managers use it. As for daemons, besides
thunar running in background here I have 4 related to gvfs, any of them could
be poking your HDD from time to time.

There is a 10 year old thread about a similar issue:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/issues/49
It would be very helpful if you could confirm which process is accessing the
hard drive: https://unix.stackexchange.com/q/274136

Extra info:
This is a problem with thunar and not gvfs. When the same test is done with
nautilus, it allows for a graceful unmounting by asking if you'd like to
unmount it anyways.
